Collectivity of Saint-Barthélemy – February 28, 2020

Faced with the spread of the Covid 19 virus in a growing number of geographic areas around the world, the Collectivity of Saint-Barthélemy is asking the entire population and businesses on the island to implement the precautionary measures recommended by the Ministry of Health and the Regional Health Agency of Guadeloupe.

You can find the answers to your questions on this link:
www.gouvernement.fr/info-coronavirus

A national hotline is also available 24 hours a day to answer your questions (0 800 130 000).

The Collective insists in particular on the following points.

1) Strict compliance with the barrier measures, namely, washing your hands very regularly (the hydro-alcoholic gel is only fully effective on hands previously washed vigorously with soap), coughing and sneezing in your elbow, using disposable handkerchiefs, wear a surgical mask if you are sick and avoid physical contact as much as possible (handshakes, hugs).

2) In case of appearance of suspicious symptoms (fever or feeling of fever, cough, breathing difficulties), do not go to your doctor or to the hospital. Call the SAMU at 15.

3) If you have stayed in the last 14 days in an area with high virus circulation (China, Singapore, South Korea, northern Italy or Iran, this list may change every day), you must limit your trips as much as possible or contacts on the island. Favor teleworking, avoid public places. Do not put your children in school or on the outside, especially with childminders. If you have suspicious symptoms, call 15 immediately.

The Community insists that parents who have spent part of the school holidays in an area with a high circulation of the virus (China, Singapore, South Korea, northern Italy or Iran, this list may change every day) so that they do not attend school their children before 14 days from their return. Contact the school head or the school department for more information.

Companies are asked to check the situation of their employees who have recently taken leave off the island. All those responsible for tourist accommodation (hotels, villas, small furnished tourist accommodation) are also asked to check, as far as possible, that present or future customers have not stayed in the high traffic areas of the viruses (China, Singapore, South Korea, northern Italy or Iran, this list may change daily) in the past 14 days.

Each of us, through our sense of responsibility and by taking the right actions, can help prevent the spread of the virus. It is to protect yourself and others.
Stay tuned for instructions from the Ministry of Health and ARS Guadeloupe.
