How Much Is That Cheeseburger Pommes Frites?

On Thursday nights M&P has hamburger night. The place is packed with mostly local families sharing the burgers and frites. I have been tempted to try one, but the steak is so darn good and I am planning lamb chops for my next visit, so I don't know when I will get that chance.

Carol....the one thing they all have in common is its all high fat, non organic, non grass fed crap - formed into a patty.....whether its at Select or Sand Bar.....:nightmare:

but we all still love them in spite of that......

I was waiting on the shrimp to get mentioned Kevin, thanks for your research. I think a hamburgers/frites comparison is a very simple standard that all can relate to no matter where you come from. We were treated to lunch by Nantucket clients about 10 days ago at Indigo. Kona and I did the math on the burger with "regular" fries and it comes out to 50 bucks US. Having enjoyed the truffle parmesan fries on a few occasions, one would have to upgrade to those as they are delish. So your burger and frites would be looking close to around 60 bucks. Aaah, St. Barth.

It must be said that there are many bargains here of which we have been seeking out almost daily. Yesterday was Cote Port (we have been hitting this place for lunch which is packed, 2-3 times a week). I had a generous size faux fillet with a creamy peppercorn sauce and great frites and a little salad. Kona had a generous portion of seared fresh tuna with an asian noodle salad great wasabi cream and shoyu dipping sauce. Both of these items were 18 Euro and came with nice bread, a glass of wine and coffee as well as a small carafe of rhum vanilla. Today I had the beef lasagna with side salad at the Creperie and I think it was 11 Euro. We see most of the plat du jour offerings on FB or in Le News and try to hit those even if it is to take away for a later dinner. I have been doing this for most of this season as I have gotten tired of cooking (unless if I am getting paid for it) and spending tons of $$$ at the store and then ending up throwing a lot of food away which I hate.

How can one find out what is on offer at Au Regal? Kona and I want to give it a try before we leave. kr

May sound funny but the presentation on the lasagna today was beautiful. Generous piece placed into a large soup like bowl. A very intricate design on the bowl lip of what seemed to be an aged balsamic. I didn't take a picture because I don't know how to post them but I will say that I do know presentation and for the simplicity of the meal, the artistry on the plate was amazing and better than I have seen at most full fare places on-island. I would surely say the same of the meal we had yesterday at Cote Port. kr
