How Much Is That Cheeseburger Pommes Frites?

Midwest beef, an egg from a Wisconsin farm (delivered around 5:00 a.m that morning), bacon from another farm in Illinois or Wisconsin

We kept debating if we should try Meat and Potatoes last week based on all the love it gets here, but living in Wisconsin and spending a good amount of time in Chicago for work, we are so spoiled with Midwestern beef. I've eaten in some of the best steakhouses across the country, and so far none have lived up to my expectations of what I take for granted living in the frozen tundra. I will need to add Local Root to my list!

Goooner - thanks for the directions! Sounds terrific! And I love homemade pickles!

If you are ever in Green Bay - the only burger recommendation I can give you is Kroll's - but only if you like your burgers with generous pats of real butter, a side of greasy chili (with or without spaghetti noodles) and a cold beer! :)

 I have a ton of respect for Tom Brady...unless he's playing at Lambeau! :) Should be a good game between 2 great QB's! And the new stadium renovations look great! Have you visited the Union Hotel? It's definitely a throw-back, but the chance to rub elbows with Bart Starr at the bar when he's in town is priceless!

5 Guys and In-n-Out are good, but these days my favorite fast food burger is Shake Shack.

The Black Label burger at Minetta is world renown now, but trying to get a reservation for the place is nearly impossible for the hoi polloi like me other than the not so prime hours of 5:45 or 10:45.

For over the top burgers, I still like the DB burger which is the first burger that broke the $25 barrier in NYC IIRC.

Another vote for Five Guys...AND we've got a new one opening right here in a month or so! There goes the diet

I'd like to try Kroll's sometime (or at least their Chicago version), but I don't think I would be welcome there.

The owner got into a dispute regarding construction of a building and sued some people. I was brought in last minute to try the case for the contractors. Got to know the owner well for the month the case was on trial, especially the four hours I spent cross-examining him.

I don't think they particularly want to see me again.

Probably a good thing, since there is a night and day difference between the 2 locations. One is a landmark dive with history (and great burgers), the other is just another nameless restaurant with mediocre food, trying to make a buck off of the grandparent's name in a city that has no connection to the history of the original. Kind of like opening up a Billy Goat Tavern in GB. :)

Back on the subject of Cheeseburgers, here is Le Gaïac's description of their €30 Cheeseburger from their Facebook page:

A 5-star Burger in ...
Our buns are made fresh, homemade, onsite, by our pastry chef everyday. The burger itself is made from certified organic Angus flank beef. The tomatoes and salad leaves come from our very own organic greenhouses located on the resort grounds here at Hôtel Le Toiny St Barth. Aged organic American cheddar cheese coupled with bacon made from organic pork garnish the beef patty.

The burger is served with sweet potatoes, also from our organic... garden, as well as large French fries made from the finest Idaho potatoes.
We dress the burger and french fries with mayonnaise and tomato sauce - both homemade.

Paradise is served. Bon appetit!

sounds great....very much like the burger I make at home.....with equally organic locally grown products

but I aint spending 40 bucks on a burger....no where....no how.....no way

Barclay Prime used to have that but I'm not sure they still do. They do have a $100 Waygu beef cheesesteak tho.

Another country gone burger mad!

2. Opulent Oligarchy | 7 p.m.

Like many European cities, Prague has gone crazy for fancy hamburgers, and there’s nothing quite like the “oligarch burger” at the eight-month-old George Prime Steak: a juicy patty of imported aged American wagyu with foie gras, black truffle aioli, Brillat-Savarin cheese and — of course! — ribbons of 24-karat gold, creating a juicy, smoky explosion of savory flavors that is safely served only in the bar (990 koruna).

$49

I haven't seen any mention of Grass Fed on a menu. There are a lot of mentions of Angus, and an occasional mention of Wagyu, but that's about it.

Le Select lowered several of its prices last week.I can't recall if the simple cheeseburger and fries went down( we think it did),but a variety of menu items did.We aren't on island now ,so can't check it out

The price of a cheeseburger pomme frites at Le Select has been reduced from €11.50 to €8.50, tieing it with Au Regal for lowest price.
