Best patisserie on the island?

Reading the new issue of ZION magazine (one of the best island publications in my opinion) at the end there is “Emily’s Address Book” where the editor lists many of her favorite spots on island, be it “best cocktails” “date night” “dinner with friends” etc. Thought everyone might find her choices for “best croissant” of interest:

Will give ChocolaVany a shot this winter.
As a matter of semantics, croissants are viennoiseries, and so fall under boulangerie and not pâtisserie. Since they contain leavening yeast.

Yes that is true. Not sure where it was stated otherwise? Most breakfast sorts of French baked goods fall under the viennoiserie umbrella. Bakeries here don’t make the distinction as far as I know. As you say, a matter of semantics.

not sure how nouveau this is (new to me), but a very haut de gamme option for those staying at the sous le vent end of the island.

We enjoyed croissants and pastries from Chokola Vany most days last week--Malik's smile a welcome sight each morning. I am especially fond of their pain aux raisins, crispy and delicious. We tried to keep CV pistachio ice cream, mango passion sorbet and frozen macaron in the freezer though none lasted long!

Amazed you even TRIED!

Well, you just mentioned my favorite flavors!! I will definitely find my way over there! ❤️

This is the location of Chokola Vany. Park on the road and it is in the rear of the building.

We were inspired by this thread. We departed our villa in Lurin. We stopped at Choisy in town, proceeded to Petite Colombe, stopped in at Eden to Go before finally reaching Chokola Vany. Croissant finalists were Eden to Go and Chokola Vany. Chokola Vany was our unanimous winner.

Chokola Vany’s front man is a hoot, a real sweetheart. The icing on the cake was the raspberry filled croissant and the savory, beef filled croissant.

Now, if some of you could offer suggestions of where to get a properly pulled espresso that doesn’t come from a push button machine, I would risk tachycardia to share my findings.

For the sticklers here, this was a scientific poll with a sample size of two.

On a serious note, for many years AMC was the reliable purveyor of Moliterno Black Truffle Pecorino. With the Monoprix takeover, it is unavailable. This cheese was another reason to be excited to return to the Island each year. Anyone have the name of a dealer that they are willing to share?

You did so well finding Chokola Vany that I'll suggest a new treasure hunt, a possible source for the Moliterno Black Truffle Pecorino.

AMC has a new retail location in the Public Industrial Zone (ZI) called Ti AMC. Perhaps they carry the cheese which you found in their former more traditional locations. Their hours are limited (Wed - Sat 08:00 - 19:00, Sun 08:00 - 12:00, Closed Mon - Tue), and despite being in the ZI they are indeed a retail location.

To find the Ti AMC location take the road from La Tourmente, the roundabout above the airport, down into Public. When you reach the bottom, start looking on your left for the AMC logo. It will be in the first 100 yards, near where the road from Corossol comes in on the right. When you find it, enter into the ZI warehouse district and keep looking for and following the AMC logos. If you get as far along the main road as the 2-story ALMA Quincaillerie building then you've missed the turnoff and gone too far.

Best of luck with the hunt. Hopefully you'll find the reward that you are seeking at the end of it.

Here's the Google Maps link to the location:
