At GdS we shared accras and ravioles croustillantes farci de lambis then had pepper crusted beef fillet and oeil de boeuf. All very very nice.

Not really. 70€ is not inexpensive but not abusive. IMHO.
It was so beautiful it was worth it to us.

Putting all of that on my list. I loved their Tuna Tartare and the burger was pretty good. Marinated grilled chicken not so much. It was all from lunch menu.

We are « new friends » but are lavished with « old friends » welcome and cordiality at tonight’s dinner destination Nyama.
Cuisine is authentic and satisfying. Ambience is warm with a touch of exotic. Service is charming and attentive.
Nyama is probably the closest to a comme-chez-soi dinner out experience on the island. IMHO.

So glad for this report . . . Nyama is one of my most favorite places on the island -- food, price, ambiance, service, and lovely owners & staff.

Al Mare for lunch. Mamo for dinner. I’m going to forget how to speak French !
All Italian staff at both. Many of whom not particularly fluent en Français.
This was my second time at Mamo. First time dining in dining room (not bar). Most beautiful dining spot on the island. IMHO.
Efficient service staff.
Cuisine very good to excellent.
Mostly posh crowd. Some very posh.
Do I prefer L’Isola ? Probably.
But so nice to have both options

We love them both (Al Mare and Mamo Michelangelo) for what they are. Yes Mamo maybe is too grand for St. Barth spirit but if it is already there we have to enjoy it. Good things do not last too long...Remember Robuchon?

Mamo last night there was a strolling vocalist - very comely and shapely woman - strongly reminiscent of the Fran Jeffries scene in Pink Panther.

I agree! Mamo is not over-the-top gilded or decorated. It is very nice and we have always had excellent dining experiences there. We enjoy the staff and great food, atmosphere and we have never been asked for a 'tip'. It could be they somewhat know us by now. We've seen the wait staff here and there going about their normal life, such as in the pharmacy and food stores. They are so friendly and polite even outside of Mamo.

My husband is half Sicilian so it is fun for them to hear his Italian! Some understand him and some don't so between our lack of proper Italian and our mutual apparent lack of decent French, we all speak English and enjoy the dining experience.

One thing I am thankful for is we have not had to listen to a singer/vocalist. It's a small space so I can imagine what that must be like although if it is a good singer and the volume is low, it might be a nice experience??? @cassidain ~ what did you think?

We were taken completely by surprise by the vocalist’s presence, but it was all very fun and festive and not over the top or disruptive at all
