Pre-Trip Report

Yes although the funny thing about flying out of PHL is that the first class tickets to SJU plus Tradewind flights is similar price to flying to SXM with SBC/Winair. Sometimes we will fly down EWR-SXM on United and always fly home SBH-SJU-PHL. The early or late flights seems to still offer decent pricing on Tradewind. Also the SXM airport is quite improved even if people here think it's a third world country!
This is why I always tell people to run the numbers. Sometimes the cost of flying Tradewind will surprise you in a good way.

Wondering if 10h30 is too early for a ti-punch đŸ€”
Asking for a friend đŸ€“
Well, traditionally a ‘Ti Punch at 05:00 is known as the DĂ©collage, the takeoff. A ‘Ti Punch at 11:00 is known as ‘Ti Lagoute, or small taste. That aside, when discussing ’Ti Punch with an island friend, he wagged his finger and said “not before 10:00’.

I think that “your friend” is OK at 10:30 😂.

From a post that I made a few years back:

Traditionally, ‘Ti Punch may be consumed at any hour of the day. Depending on the time of day, it may have a special name. The following list is from either Guadelopue or Martinique. At 5AM it is the DĂ©collage, or Takeoff. At 11AM is the ‘Ti Lagoute, or Small Taste. At Noon, the drink is the ‘Ti Punch described here. At 12:30 comes the Ti 50%, half of the previous drink. At 3PM it is L’Heure de Crist, the Hour of Christ. At 5PM it is the ‘Ti Pape, or Little Pope. Towards the end of the night comes Le Partante, or The Departure.

Fabulous, Kevin . . . I especially resemble the Ti 50%!

Up before the sun for a lunch-at-the-villa provisions expedition. From Vitet we pass first the petite poissonnerie in Lorient, mais il n’y avait personne.
Onward to the nouvelle Halle aux Poissons on the far side of the harbor. It’s nice, if not as convenient.
There were several people in front of us when we arrived, including some picking up for commercial interests, and we worried there would be none for us. But, fortunately there was Mahi, and I negotiated with the very St-Barth couple (like their family here for centuries) in front of us to each take one filet from a 4kg poisson. I was happy to concede the tĂȘte (pour les joues) and la rogue to the couple. 56€ each.
À suivre . . .
