L'ESPRIT JEAN CLAUDE DUFOUR - Simply Terrific!

Yep.....and like always it starts with a passive aggressive one liner handed off to someone else..often to a Mod...and away we go...LOL

Like this: with a cafe named Le Tasse ( am I allowed to post that word in an English thread?)

Please don't stir a pot that doesn't need stirring. Let at least ONE thread start and end respectfully. :)

Unlike many others who post here, I can only get to my favorite Island every 2-3 years. but once I arrive, my entire soul is relaxed. I know I am going to overpay for just about everything, but I expect that, and if I feel it is exorbitant, I don't order it. I Love this Island, it is so different than any of the others, that I go when I can, love every minute of my visit, and will continue to praise it at every opportunity. If money was all that mattered, I would be at an all inclusive in Jamaica, but I am not! Marius, Eddy, JEK, Tim, and Rosita. These are just a few of the reasons I love St. Barts. See you next May.

And yet you'd think I would learn from you or my daughter....but nope....we re diving right back into food after a 15 year hiatus ...with a cafe named Le Tasse ( am I allowed to post that word in an English thread?).....it will hit me that it s really happening when I am at the retail food show in Boston next weekend plopping way too much money down for an espresso machine ....... oy

Mike, I have a ??? Ranchello expresso machine that cost major loot that came with my building. I am under the impression it is a good brand. FB me and I will see if I can scrape up some deets. Would not have much mileage and has been stored properly. Would love to see it go to a good home. kr

Thanks for all the good information and menus. Still have not decided if L'Esprit is worth the splurge. Here is a related article in the Washington Post about dinner costs at high end restaurants in DC https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...nal-hp-cards_regional-card-food:homepage/card . Given the clientele that comes to SBH, I think L'esprit and ER prices are high but not out of range. I love Fiola Mare in DC as well and on this chart it's a bargain!

I hadn't know about his formation chez Troisgros. That explains a lot. Lovely review of a wonderful Saint-Barth asset.

The third and fourth generation of Troisgros have just moved their iconic three-star establishment from across from the train station in the bourgeois town of Roanne to the outskirts of the village of Ouches, a few klicks away.
I wonder what dinner will be like tonight at Troisgros disciple Jean-Claude DuFour's iconic Saint-Barth establishment . . .

Doesn't JC still have the three-course 65 euro menu, at that price its reasonable and for my money one of the best meals on the island..

Yes - my wife had it last night. The started was sliced duck and the main was a fish dish.

This was our best meal on the island so far and the service was also very good. We never had to pour our own wine as the staff was always on top of it and they really hustled in the restaurant. We also were not solicited for a tip.

I had the foie gras and the stuffed calamari and it was wonderful as well.

We never miss L'ESPRIT on each and every trip. Looking forward to enjoying another fairy tale dining experience in May.

It has been our very favorite for several years. Always our first and last night choice. I recall a friend that was a regular to the island once telling me you have to pretend it's monopoly money to keep your sanity!
