CULPABILITY by Bruce Holsinger

Wondering about AI and consequences when decisions are made for you, not by you? This is a good story about a family of 5 riding in a car driven by a 17 year old boy. The dad is up front and 2 sisters and mom are in the back. Yes, the car drives on its own and makes decisions. However people are there when a fatal accident occurs and you see how their decisions led to this outcome. Note, with AI comes responsibility….A very good point is made.

This scenario just happened in TX! An auto-driven Tesla with a passenger in it flew into someone’s front door and a woman was killed in her home. Frightening and so sad
😱
Let me admit up front that I am old. But who is out there clamoring for self-driving cars?

Life imitating art? Personally, I do not see either of us yielding steering wheel and brakes over to AI.

Not me and I had a FSD Tesla at one point. Even with FSD Tesla requires the driver to take control. The only real driverless car I see in somewhat wide usage is the Waymo. BTW, Amy I read the book and liked it! Presented may real world questions about who or what is in control and therefore liable.

I do recommend this book as it discusses very now problems and some of those that may present themselves in the near future.
