We’ve been renting from Turbe for at least 10 years and have never had a problem. The cars are always in good condition and they give a discount to repeat clients. We are here now and have one of their cars.Anyone have feedback on Turbe Car Rental? Looking around as it's a 6 week stay this time...longest ever. Thanks much. Jo.
I would not recommend Turbe. Not a bad experience per se, there are just other companies that are better. When i was there in February, the car i received looked like it had been in Ukraine the last two weeks. That's not really a big deal, as alot of cars on the island are banged up. But this one was really beat up. The issue i had is i rented the car (paid) at 9am on Saturday, returned it at 10am on Wednesday and they sent me a separate charge the day after i got back to the states, for one additional day. IMO, if you give someone a beat to hell car and they only go one extra hour, into a new 24-hour period, you should probably just let it go. I'm sure everyone in here will strongly disagree with me as usual, but that's just my opinion.
In all honesty the best customer service for cars on the island, is hands down COOL RENTAL. I popped a tire and got stuck going up a hill to my villa on a single trip and the owner lady came out to help me and didn't charge me a dime. Such a friendly company that does everything they can to make sure you aren't stressed.
I agree after the ownership changed the service went downhill and we switched to Turbe.Any experience with Soleil Carribe? Am a very long time customer but the last several years they've been charging for every tiny gravel ding and minor scratch. Maybe that's the way of the world these days...

Do not do this if your villa is located up steep slope. Add in a steep slope and narrow road and you have a recipe for disaster. If you ever come to a situation where either you or the other driver has to back track, absolutely do not defer.

There is a considerable lag when engaging the gas from an uphill traffic stop. Can be nervy when you roll back before accelerating. Separately, on narrow roads that access Villas in the hills, you can get caught in a situation where you have to pull off to the side or back up for a while before you find a spot to gain clearance for the oncoming car. This can create a situation where you back into a ditch because the transmission is not very engaging due to the lack of power of Mokes. I would not rent one of these if I was staying in Vitet, the hills of St Jean, etc. Perfect little ride for a beach Villa. Also getting over the mountain from Lorient to lets say Grand Fond the thing pretty much maxes out.
I believe the new Mokes are Mokes in name only.
