WinAir Debacle

Over the last several years, we had to take WinAir twice because SBC wasn't available at the times we needed. Both times WinAir was late leaving SBH, causing us to almost miss our connection on one trip, and miss our connection on another trip. No such issues with SBC.
Sorry for your woes! Our connections in SXM have always been departing at 3 or later. With, at best, a noon checkout on SBH villas, we've booked 11ish departures, to offset possible/inevitable glitches in transit. Things go well, we're having an extra cocktail in SXM. At worst, we still connect.

My daughter has something she does on roller coasters that she thinks is funny (others do not find it funny!) that someone with a sense of humor and a very mean streak may want to try on these planes. Just as the ride is about to begin she holds up an old rusty bolt that she brings with her and says out loud with a little "false fear" in her voice and for others to hear "Is this supposed to be like this?". Yes...she takes after her Father:wink2:

You and your funny daughter would fit right in with my crew! Love it!

Wow. We escaped by the skin of our teeth. We were scheduled on th 5:00 flight on Winair to SBH from SXM on the 4th. We got in a little early and went right to the C1 gate and asked to get on an earlier flight. We got the last two boarding passes for the earlier flight, went to stand in the stairwell with everyone. After about a half hour or more, they told us we could go back upstairs and sit. They called us about 5:15 and we got a plane. Someone asked the assistant on the bus what was up and she said something about routine "cleaning" required every so man miles (total BS). If we had arrived on time, we would have been on the boat with the Hopper.

My recollection is that Winair has been both owned by the government and stretched financially for many years.

Yeah, we used to head down to Sunset Beachbar if we had too much time in between. Now we try to get a bit of St Barth beach time in the morning before we leave, so we try to keep our times to around 2 hours in between. With SBC it hasn't been a problem, but it seems WinAir requires a bit more buffer.
