what are you eating??

The Long Island Sound lobster population is still not recovered. Not so easy to come by-good FRESH homard.

my traps went through about two weeks of really low catches......but they ve been loaded lately..the trouble is finding the time to go out and pull them this time of year....

I also provide many of the lobstermen and women with their bait, as I save them the carcasses from all the cleaned fish we do, and they show their gratitude by bringing me lobsters...

everything is barter on the wharf....I love that...

I got bass..you got tuna...lets trade

I got sole ..you got scallops....lets trade

and so forth

Nice arrangement, Mike! We just returned from a boat launching party in Vineyard Haven. Beautiful wooden boat being celebrated with a boatyard barbecue - pulled pork, rice and beans, corn, steamers...Best of all, live music by Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish, who we took sailing in March before one of their gigs at the Baz Bar. We had a very happy reunion tonight.

I LOVE Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish....as you know and mentioned, they play Baz Bar every now and then.....very cool New England St Barts connection

enjoy!!!

I don't how the Vineyard is this week but we are at total saturation levels right now...I am only 5 miles from the wharf and it took me 20 minutes to get to the boat tonight

getting ready for the girls and KevinS and Kate this weekend....trying to put a seafood care package together for both.....

We love them, too! We had a very nice reunion. Johnny ran out after a song and gave me a big hug. People whispered, "Who are they?" Hilarious. Just us.

The Vineyard is mayhem. Add the Secret Service advance team. We are on the mooring, in the dinghy or walking, and blessed to be here. Sorry for the time of your commute.

oh don't be sorry,,despite that, there is no where on the planet I would rather be at the moment...next week is Carnival and we will gradually go to insane levels, culminating with the Parade on Thursday.....

and then

we will start the slow march towards getting quieter and quieter..

its all good

The Parade. So much fun. We hoped to be there, but will stay south of the Canal this year. Best to you and yours and Kate and Kevin. Have a wonderful time.

Today's lunch was Oysters, Littlenecks, and Fish Tacos, enjoyed with Wendi and Lena at the Beachcomber.

Lobster that Mr. Larsen, the nice Vineyard Haven fish market man, cooked for us. Good idea-tomorrow I will make meatloaf to cozy up the boat in the rain. It might not be Perfect, though.

Kevin has incredible luck....he shows up today when we caught beau coup striped bass...a 140 pound tuna ....lobsters...clams...oh my!

....am I reading this correctly??? Monsoon in New England? I'm flying up to Newport tomorrow a.m., and back again in the evening.........with my mom......great.....don't know what I'll be eating ;-)

We will be having meat loaf in Glen Cove as well. How funny is that.

Much rain on Long Island-Phil had to lower the water level in the pool

3 to 4 inches of rain and gusty east winds is what we are getting out here....Newport wont be much different..as the crow flys, it isnt very far from here

Apparently I have great Fish Karma. Mike says that the fishing hasn't been great lately, but that changed today. I have a nice Striped Bass filet and four inch-thick Bluefin Tuna steaks on ice, compliments of Mike. The color on the Sushi-quality Bluefin steaks is a gorgeous red. I need to visit Provincetown more often!
