That casino idea is back. Just up the hill from Le Repaire

Sad, sad, sad. Creeping greed, IMHO. I'm not opposed to change per se, but this would be a huge change in the wrong direction.

I totally agree. Gambling on legalized gambling on SBH would be a slippery slope

Maybe they should take the space and make a parking
Lot so people can actually park and shop and eat.

I wonder where that proposal stands these days?

"I wonder where that proposal stands today?"

The developers of the casino and of le parking are probably at this moment drafting an agreement to provide a shuttle service from le parking au casino. ;)

I, for one, having stayed at the Sunset, and agonizing about parking all day, would gladly take a shuttle from the lot at St Jean. I'd even pay. One stop at the ferry, one at the post office. Is that so difficult? Guess so.

Seems the Jeux are already taking place on the island very hush hush and the collectivity wants its share! Funny I was wondering what would be done with this piece of land.....

I thought another stupid mall with more no parking would go there. That space is one huge rock, btw.

I took Ellen's advice and wrote to all Council members. I had a very polite and prompt reply stating that a US citizen, Mr. Morris GOLDFARB, has written to the Council requesting the Council's "opinion about his ideas of icluding a game room in the project his (sic) is going to build." It was stated further that "the authority to do this it not given by the local Council, but by the Minister of Interior in France with the agreement of the local Council" and the "Local Coucil has always been against the idea of building a Casino on the Island."

Sure, because what this island really needs is drugs, prostitution, and old people from Des Moines who sit and play slot machines and never see the light of day.

Casinos are great when a location needs a reason for people to come. Casinos make sense on flat ugly islands like Aruba.

But here? No way.

I can see it now, an all-inclusive hotel with the casino and packages from Liberty Travel.
