A WWI novel about the American telephone operators carefully selected to serve in the US Army Signal Corps. They were never recognized as members of the armed forces during their time of service which lasted two years past the signing of The Treaty of Versailles. They kept the lines of communication open and working for Generals Pershing, Russell and Foch until the troops came home.
These brave women were belittled at first, but their voluntary dedication to serve never wavered. As they were assigned all over the war front and they sent vital and important messages to move fighting men to needed postings as well as supplies, food, and matériels to help them defeat the enemy, they stayed on point and worked long shifts and did their jobs.
Long after they served, they were finally recognized as veterans. Hats off to these brave unheralded telephone operators who answered the call and served their homeland with distinction and courage under fire.
