Just got back from lunch at Shellona, and I have to say, it was a huge letdown. The prices were outrageous! While the staff gave us a warm welcome, that was really the only highlight. Even by St. Barth standards, the prices are out of control. We paid €27 for a tiny mini Margherita pizza (seriously, it was only 10-12 cm!) and €26 for a handful of Tomato-Feta salad. If you want to squeeze onto the beach, be prepared to “shell” out €80 for a sunbed.

And to top it all off, the valet charged us €20 and parked our car in a FREE public spot on the street! Not sure if this is even legal… Total rip-off! Other guests shared our thoughts.

Our daughters and friend had lunch there 2 weeks ago and did not mention prices, only that they enjoyed the food. It has always struck me as a younger/instagram sort of place. As reference, they are in their mid-late 20s...
A friend with adult children arriving this week said they insist on heading there straight from the airport. I don't really understand it but then again, I'm not in my 20's ; ) After a few visits for drinks years ago, it's never been on our radar.

How very sad… I don’t mind paying a little extra for a nice atmosphere, but this felt like a rip-off!

We used to love to go there late afternoons when it was Do Brazil.....definitely not the same.

Nothing in between. Do Brazil was acquired at the time that the Carl Gustaf Hotel was purchased. The purchaser of both of them -- likely in a financial arrangement with some St. Tropez parties -- also acquired, at the same time, the former La Route des Boucaniers (now La Petite Plage). The plan was that the former (Do Brazil, now Shellona) would serve as the Hotel's "Beach Club," and the latter would be its "City Club." Hotel guests were intended to have special privileges at each of them.

Watch out for that Crab Pasta dish - - they show you the chalkboard quickly with a price per 100g but when you do the math, the price was 800€! The half-portion was a bargain at half the price... lol. No lie. Obviously, I did not order it. I had to double check the next time I went to make sure I was doing the math correctly. Trip Advisor has a few reviews of people who did not do the math and were quite surprised by their bill. I have only been when others want to go, or we are invited by someone else. Not on my personal list. I loved Do Brazil and miss it immensely.

Champagne sprayers should be banned from ordering; crime de lèse-majesté. If you want to spray, use Prosecco, SVP.

Two years ago we ordered the fish off of the special board and when the bill came I had a wierd look. The wife said how much was it? I said "x" . She said well we had a bottle of wine appetizer etc. And I said no the fish was "x" . More that any other total bill on the trip just for a small fish. We usually go once and expect it to be a big bill but that time was honestly outrageous for st barts or anywhere. We still enjoy but one of the few spots I CAREFULLY order. Still love the grilled poulet du Chef.

Seems you were able to escape the most of the outrageous items. When we last made a visit the special of rhe day was caribbean rock lobster for €400 euro.
We avoid this tourist trap as well as the others by this chef. They are all show and no go in our eyes.
