. . . or for how many years they will be around!
In historical perspective, I am blessed in having enjoyed great mentoring on SBH — starting with the memorably special Brook Lacour, who co-founded Sibarth with husband Roget (a/k/a as “Roger”). In different ways, they nurtured my understanding of island customs & conventions & “schooled” me in local real estate . . . until so much changed in what I call “the invasion of the barbarians.” Late 80s / early 90s.
Among the team contributing to bringing tourism to SBH at the time was the forever gracious, charming, exuberant, & “bigger-than-life” Tim Warburton, brother-in-law to Brook & co-founder of WIMCO. (RIP Tim, tragically a Covid victim.). Sweet, hardworking, reliable team members in those years included folks who still prominently serve hospitality on the island — I’m particularly thinking of the indomitable Anne Dendle (now Eden Rock Villas). always refined & gracious Isabelle (Jamin) Giraud (Heavenly Travel SBH), & my longtime ”girlfriend,” Bethany Ludwig (PropCo).
I could go on, but it’s not the time or place (please forgive my nostalgic interval). Suffice it to say that I gather that the Starks are great entrepreneurs of the island, & I wholeheartedly wish success for them. Cass’s comment, nonetheless, triggered for me thoughts of the past & future of our “Treasured Island” (merci MichaelG!).
Avec optimisme pour l'avenir!
