Our First Couple Days in our Happy Place!

. . . frustrating, but I get the same message that JEK showed. Were you there, Ellen? Perhaps dancing with Jeffrey Epstein? There are forces who seek to conceal such things!
I was not, but Minou Webber posted a video - she was there... maybe one needs to be friends with her on facebook ?

I've never heard anyone admit that they don't love Eddy's. I never got into either, but never admitted that aloud. I just had some not great meals in my early years and kind of gave up on it.
We never go to Eddy's either.

There's no denying there's been a small group of fetish restaurants you're supposed to love. Hideaway was one. L'Esprit another. Santa Fe, for sure. Eddy's kind of. Maya's was one - if you belonged to a certain favored inner circle. I think Ti Corail has joined the clique.
We tried all and were unpersuaded. Ti Corail's status for us is still in flux, but we've certainly had a few unsavory experiences there.

But YMMV.

Fetish restaurants? Supposed to love? I'm not sure I follow...
Having been blessed with a career that provided endless dining and tasting experiences--high, low and in between--one thing I learned for certain: restaurant experiences are personal. What you look for and prefer I might not and vice versa. For me, restaurants are about so much more than food--many of the places we frequent on St Barth are just as much about people, views and overall vibe. How a place makes you feel is often as memorable as what you order.
We don't go to Eddy's for the most incredible food, we go because we love its unique St Barth atmosphere. Ti Corail is a “food truck”on the beach with a beautiful view...expectation should match its simple mission. L'Esprit has some of the finest food on island but if you don't love the overall feel, so be it. People loved Maya's for what it was...simple food in a beautiful setting where they felt at home. I always likened it to a sort of "St Barth Chez Panisse." I'm not sure there was or is an "inner circle" or "clique"?
Each restaurant has its own personality and, just as with people, not all will click. Bottom line (obviously) go where you like! I for one appreciate hearing others' experiences and opinions on St Barth restaurants whether I agree or not. As they say, it's what makes the world go 'round ; )

And I was responding to the choice of words implying there is an inner circle or clique regarding St B restaurants.
We can agree to disagree.
My hope is that such words do not prevent people from sharing experiences.

Maya’s was an exception where there were animated discussions as to its merits or lack thereof. Many were highly entertaining.

Sorry my comment caused controversy. We can all certainly agree to disagree. I doubt anyone is aware at Eddy's that I don't go there, nor do they care. I did love Maya's though. They were always so lovely to me. And the Dover sole was the best value anywhere!

Interesting. Add us to the list of those Luke warm on Eddy's. Food was mostly good we thought (duck with noodles was reallly good), service very inconsistent. Had a hair in our dessert last time and they didn't care. Screwed up our reservation. Forgot about us for who knows how long earlier the same night. One of the places that was blatantly tip soliciting us and that was the most interest the waitress showed in us all night. Everyone else there was very nice and it seemed like they were trying, maybe just inexperienced at the beginning of the season, so it didn't bother us too much. We went back because we "wanted to love it" or maybe we felt we were "supposed to love it". I'm sure we will try it again and hopefully we will like it more.
