Lunch at Pearl

Kelly had a conference call (ugh!) so I found an open spot at the Pearl bar and enjoyed a mimosa while reading a few chapters of my book (thanks again to amyb for the recommendations). It was sprinkling off and on and the bar was starting to fill up, so the hostess was happy to allow me early access to our table.

Once Kelly arrived it didn’t take us long to decide on our order. Prawns tempura are always a must, but I wasn’t able to get a photo before one mysteriously disappeared.

Kelly had beef tartare “Italian style” with fries, while I had the steak bavette and fries. We shared a simple side salad of arugula dressed with balsamic and olive oil.

Today was a “Why, yes, of course we have room for dessert!” day and our choices did not disappoint. We shared the lemon meringue pie (which was just the right amount of tart and sweet) and “La Gourmandise” with chocolate and hazelnuts. (Apologies for the out-of-focus chocolate.) It was a mixture of light and dark chocolate, hazelnuts, and was crowned with a crispy chocolate wafer resembling a chocolate-covered pringle. (Thankfully there were no pringles present in this dessert).

Finally, we’re thrilled to report that Pearl is still offering complimentary shots of rhum vanille at the end of the meal.

You're "hitting the ball out of the park!" -- day after day! The prawns tempura are one of my most favorite dishes on the island!

Haven't had the pleasure of dining there. How noisy (loud music) is the beachfront restaurant for lunch?
It has been very tame during our visits - nothing like Nikki. There is music but it’s more of the background variety. Actually, there was one song playing that I really liked so I tried to pull it up on my Shazam app. Turns out the volume was too low so Kelly had to go stand next to a speaker to get it to register.

I agree. Sometimes they raise the music for a couple of minutes if patrons start to dance. (Personal experience)

I love lunch at Pearl Beach, especially when the airport landings are reversed. The food and drinks are great, the music is lively but (as lvbookworm said) more background than anything. And we get a kick out of watching the informal beachwear/swimwear "fashion shows" that have occurred the last couple of times we were there. They should add some male models to the mix. Just sayin' 😜.
