On the way to L'Indigo, a brief stroll through the Guanihani's gardens, some of the island's most beautiful -

As the breakfast and lunch spot for the hotel, it is always busy. Certain evenings they have BBQ and entertainment, at least they did on our last stay there a few years ago. When we stay there I like to come down before the official start of breakfast and "steal" an early cup of coffee. One of the best lunch views on the island with the pool, beach and lagoon beckoning.

JEK, you got it...Tim and JEK, all great photos that call me.

This is a wonderful lunch location and the food is always wonderfully prepared and presented. Often overlooked by those not staying at Guanihani...highly recommended for a great day.

Arrive at 11AM
Select a chase on the beach
Have a beverage
Move to table at pool
Have lunch
Swim in the pool
Move back to beach
Have some beverage
Depart around 4-5pm

We had an enjoyable lunch there a few years ago when we decided to check out the Guanahani.....good food and better service. As JEK pointed out, the view is definitely a plus.

I wonder if anyone eats dinner there who isn't staying at the hotel. A beautiful spot. $100 for a 2.2 lb. Lobster is pretty heavy tho as is the rest of the menu- $29 for a club sandwich? Wow.

Yes, when we stayed there non-guest do frequent the place, at least for lunch. We saw Mariah Carey there on our last trip. The dinner spot is the Bartolomeo.

It is a very good club sandwich and considering the view value priced :)

Yes indeed- I do remember the Bartolomeo thread. If Mariah Carey served me the club sandwich it would be worth $29 but otherwise NO.

No matter how many times I see it, the 25 euro cheeseburger (about $34 at today's rate) still takes my breath away. A question often asked: How far can they push it? Answer: The actual value of anything is what a willing buyer will pay a willing seller when neither is under duress. We're certainly not under duress when we're down there, so the correct question is: How much are we willing to pay for a burger on SBH?

Make it easy on yourself (relatively) and don't do the exchange...simply tell yourself that you're buying a 25 DOLLAR cheeseburger...
Feel better now?

the real answer lies somewhere between "If you have to ask, you can't afford it" and "Who gives a s&it?"
After paying for all the stuff I've had to pay for over the last 54 years, the opportunity to pay, (even an exhorbitant amount by anyone else's standards) for a cheeseburger on St Barts is one of my life's great and savored pleasures...my time on the island is so treasured...hell, probably $100. $200?
(can I have fries with that?)

Ah, the smell of cooking ground beef, bought at the St. Jean butcher shop, cooked on the weber by the pool, in back of the villa, overlooking the sea, carib in hand,... sorry, I snapped out of it...

<<I agree, its a great setting. To the list above add:

" watch kite surfers trying to impress..." >>

Why wasn't all this cool stuff around when I was young enough to enjoy it?
It's on the list, but unless someone close by at the beach buys the gear, highly unlikely....

I get the feeling the only ones out there are the instructors drumming up business - sorta like the sea-doo rental guys at l'Orient SXM

Also, fine, if the price is high but the burger better at least be good, and then large enough. Neither was the case at Le Pecheur (sp?....restaurant at the Sereno) this past trip. However, the drinks were pretty good and the pool and view are beautiful. You can't win em all. ;-))

We stayed at Guanahani on both of our trips. Our room included breakfast at L'Indigo.Breakfast is great there and we always made sure we went. Great food, service and view. When we get back we will be staying there again and will be at breakfast every day. We rarely wanted lunch but did eat there once at noon. Again everything was great

$29 for a club sandwich? Wow.

Update: I'm in NYC for an event tonight and the club sandwich here at the hotel (not NYC's finest) is $22. I bet I could find a $30 club somewhere in the city, but the view is much better at L'Indigo :)

Try and find a $100 2lb lobster. :) Bet you can't.
