. . . never lets me down!
The number of restaurants is dwindling where I want to spend time (so many reasons . . . I think that prior posts speak for themselves). In my current visit I’m -- so far -- finding comfort in the stalwarts. Lunches have been oriented to . . . beach . . . ambience . . . service . . . known comfort . . . breeze. As the title says, today it was Le Toiny.
There rarely has been a “miss” here, & today was a winner on all cylinders!
To begin, let me tell you that the commonly accepted way to the restaurant is via a sophisticated jeep-like vehicle (off-road Mercedes or similar) from the Hotel’s reception area . . . in an exciting, eye-catching ride down a steep, winding hill, to the Hotel’s elegant beachfront venue. Memorable, especially for first time visitors. As a frequent guest, however, I prefer my routine of parking in the Toiny beach lot, from which I walk — flip flops in hand — along the beach . . . in-&-out of the waves, to the restaurant. The walk used to often lead me past Jimmy Buffett, hangin’ in the water . . . waiting to claim a wave. Always a big wave from him if he spotted me. I very sadly missed seeing him today.
Lunch was exquisitely elegant — in the menu, service, & serenity of venue. How can one think anything else,
My guest & I shared the ”poulpette” as a starter . . . tender & flavorful, with yummy side tastes of larger plates
Sensing the same taste buds (!), each of us also ordered the Beach Club‘s ”signature” lobster salad.
Crisp, really fresh lettuces with slivers of fresh tropical fruit, avocado slices, crunchy nuts & berries, lots of Langouste, & a delicate citrus vinaigrette dressing. On the beach in St. Barths . . . enjoying lunch with a dear friend . . . a perfect meal . . . a light breeze blowing across us. As Amy, another dear friend, is wont to say, “Aahhh, St. Barths!”
My friend & I — rarely satiated in the revelry of a splendid afternoon together — succumbed to a delicious chocolate “bar” with peanuts. Though each of us, in full-fledged food decadence, was unable to finish it.
What more can be said . . . except that the Le Toiny Beach Club ”suite” of food, setting, ambience, service, & memories is an exquisite St. Barths afternoon. As neighborhood — & otherwise personal — friends, it’s my great pleasure to have Hotel Le Toiny — & the Beach Club — among my most special island venues, where everything “clicks!”
. . . hope to see you there!
