Family dining options off-season

We are finally returning after a loooong 10 years after our honeymoon in SBH and this time we will bring our kids! They are 7 and 9 and while they have a strong appreciation for fine foods, we will need a wider variety of dining options this time and only an occasional splurge on fine dining locations. Our trip is two weeks early July. So here are the questions we have:
- I'm reading a lot about reservations being required weeks in advance and the island being busier than ever off-season - are we going to find enough options that will accommodate us with same-day or next-day reservations? On holidays and especially with the kids I like to take it day-by-day rather than planning every evening weeks in advance...
- Are many restaurants going to be closed for summer? (Is there a list?)
- Which restaurants are favorites with families, both simple and more upscale? Has anyone been to L'Esprit or Zion with kids and will they cater to the kids as well?
- Any other good ideas for simple pool-side lunches and dinners?
Thanks!

Anne, Bananiers is closed until the 13th. of July. Esprit the whole month. Pearl Beach should work. Jojo Burger. New Rivage should be open by July.

Phil & Amy I hope all is well. Do you recommend making dinner reservations now? We are 3 weeks out. Thanks

If you want to reserve now go ahead but I doubt you will be locked out of options. We went to dinner last night at Zion. Made reservations a week before we left. Place wasn’t close to being full. We were in Gustavia this morning. At 11:30 I went inside Fish Corner to ask for a 12:30 lunch reservation. Not a problem.

If you have your heart set on a place, go ahead and book. But I doubt you will go hungry if you wait.

For the OP, haven’t seen young kids at Zion but I doubt it will be a problem but I wonder if the menu is a bit fussy for kids of that age. Kid friendly options that come to mind are Lil Rock, Bananiers, Creperie, Le Select, Le Repaire, Fish Corner, l’Oubli, Le Jardin, Jojo. For poolside dining get a rotisserie chicken at the market or takeaway from Cre’age.

Thanks we didn’t wish to take any chances. I just finished booking…Eddys, Bonito, Le Repair, Bagatelle, Papilion Livre, Tamaran, Sand Bar Orega (have not heard back from them yet) and chefs table at Zion. We also doubled up at some of the above. I pushed all my work off to the side today. Would have been easier if L’Espirit and Baniers and Santa Fe were open. Had the best time planning. See you on the beach

Good listings, bkeats. I have seen children at Isoletta too.

Last night zero empty spots at our restaurant, Bananiers. As Phil says, no one ever starved to death on St Barths.

Thank you all for the helpful advice! What a bummer L'Esprit will be closed during our stay but yes, I'm sure we'll have plenty of great options to choose from!

AnneSBH we feel your pain. Missing Li’Esprit two years in a row. However we will not starve
