La Casina was on the menu for last night. It was pouring rain when we arrived but the huge artificial lemon tree in the center really brightened up the room.

Started with the polpette. Maybe a bit overcooked but very flavorful. Sauce was so good I wanted to pick up the bowl and lick it clean.

Then the main of filet with foie gras Rossini which was a special for the night. A killer dish, spectacular, I can’t say enough good things about it. Meat was cooked just right and the foie! Oh my the foie! The sauce! This dish alone may be one of the best things I’ve eaten on the island in many many trips.

Service was warm and inviting. Talked with Jean Phillipe and if I recall her name correctly his wife Catherine. They were so welcoming. Sent us glasses of their home made limoncello. Such a wonderful evening. Maybe my new first night dinner spot. I read some earlier reviews that were mixed. They have been open since October. Maybe it took some time to get their stride together but it’s humming along now.
Oh Ellen, no more singing with the pasta!
