Greetings St. Barth friends. hanging out at the villa after day #4. Day #2 Bar de L’Oubli always a home run. Didn’t get the chicken wings so we need to plan another trip. Dinner at Tamaran…meh. Totally disappointing after patronizing for years. We were rushed and the waitress was annoying. Tuna overcooked however the lobster ravioli was wonderful. No desert. I could not get out fast enough. Day #3. Lunch at Nikki was a hoot. The food amazing and the motorcycle driving through the restaurant celebrating the 4th of July was impressive. Dinner at Bonito was fabulous. Not quite sure why so many on the forum do not like it. The sea bass was wonderful and Cheryl’s tuna amazing. Even went and thanked the head cook for the meal. Day #4…windy and wild on the beach at St. Jean. While Cheryl had a massage at Eden Rock I picked up sandwiches from La Petit Columbe for lunch. Drinks from Pearl never disappoint. Dinner Le Repair was simply amazing. Much better than last year! So good that we booked once again for this Friday. Had the chicken supreme to celebrate Phil. The dame blanche to celebrate Eve. Bummer

Unfortunately, it’s become all too common (wherever one dines out) to have to manage the pace of the meal oneself.
Especially, time to relax and enjoy one’s apéritif or cocktail unhurried - perhaps while perusing the menus - and wine brought to the table BEFORE the first dish is served.

I have to say, last winter at Tamarin, our serveuse (and sommelier) handled all that quite professionally . . . once we made our preferences clear.

Hi Cass. I have a long talk with the Sommelier at Tamaran. I’ve known him for a long time and he’s always sincere. It was great talking about his family. It’s a good reason I’ll probably go back to Tamaran next year.
