Trip Report

Well back home in good old Blighty after 2 weeks in St Barths, so as promised here is our trip report, perhaps a little later than we promised.

Tuesday 17th June
Fly from UK to Charles De Gaulle for full day in Paris before we fly to St Marteens-St Barths. Unfortunately it wassed down all day so we just stopped in the hotel and read.

Wednesday 18th June
Fly from Charles De Gaulle (International Airport? This has got to be the worst airport in the world, dirty, unfriendly and nothing to do. However back to the plot). Landed in St Marteens at 14:00 and St Barths Commuter sorted everything, luggage entry forms everything ten out of ten to them for that. Then to the plane, it isn

Kara, Help!

My web browser here at the office is returning a "Post Blocked by System Administrator" error and I just have received an email from Human Resources "Requiring my presence immediately on a matter of great importance"...... Whats up?????

LOL

good report. We are thinking about VSJ for our next visit. Suprised to hear that Saline and Gouveneur
saw very little C/O use. Just the opposite when we were there in June. Most of the folks at Saline were sans
suits.

Kara- Cant see the pictures he posted. Something wrong with my browser?

A trip report with a sense of humor- great. I can see the pictures just fine- very fine actually.

Nice to finally have another trip report and a humorous one at that! Glad to hear you enjoyed yourselves.....one couldn't go wrong no matter what you did or didn't do when there are so many different ways to enjoy St. Barth.

I am unable to open the photos either.

Cherri and DRR...you may want to uncheck the "parental block" option on your PC :) Sorry, I couldn't resist...

I agree-it was nice to read a new trip report--thanks guys!

Hummm....interesting that we can't get the photos on either of our MACs at home but my husband is able to get them at his office (PC/Windows). Any other MAC users with the same problem?

Cheri:

My Mac gets the pictures just fine. And I must say that it is a wonderful trip report. Please let me add my congratulations and thanks to John for posting it.

I am sure that others in this site have the same question I have about some of the pictures in the report, so let me just ask right here:

Was that picture of the cockpit a twin otter? Because it seems like a smaller plane. Man, that would be scary.

As an aside to John, I must take exception to one line in your post. When you said that your wife is attractive "for her age" the addendum "for her age" was entirely unnecessary. She is attractive for ANY age. Glad the two of you had such a great time.

Thank you for the trip report.

IV, thanks, now that is going to drive my husband crazy.....why can't we get them? Hubby is falling off his pedestal of being the computer wizard of the household. If he lands on my lowly pedestal we'll all be in trouble because I know diddly squat about computers. Nice to hear from you IV!

It turns out that John and I were on the island at the same time, and also shared Nikki Beach and Andy's on several occasions. I e-mailed John after reading his enjoyable report, and it's too bad we weren't aware of the forum connection while we were downing Caribs in our two favorite spots. I would like to have met you, John.

John's return e-mail to me contained an interesting fact. John runs the second oldest pub in the UK. I think it's time we organize a forum visit to England!

Great report John! I especially liked the parts about being "miserly." For many years our kids thought the only restaurant on the island was the Santa Fe, and we know a lot about those $5 bottles of wine from the grocery stores! LOL!

John: I'm intrigued ! What is the name of your pub and where is it located? We own The Rose & Crown Pub here in Toronto. Roger will be in London in September. Is the pub in London or the outskirts? Near Reading? I'm sure if he can, he'd love to drop by for a pint or three and connect. Let us know, please !

if John sells Theakstons Ol Peculiar on tap......I'm there in a heartbeat......

great report John...love your view of things......sameness is boring as hell....you arent that by a long shot, nor was your report.....

I was able to view pictures on my home pc but not my office pc. Go figure. Anyway, it took me reading
through the trip report one more time to realized that the C/O lady in the picture was his wife. (I am not
usually that slow on the up-take) Anyway JohnB has a great sense of humor and has a lovely wife who appears
to be a great sport. I have been saying this board is getting a little boring and the topics a little redundant.
So this "racy" report was a breath of fresh air.

john, this is what St. Bart's is all about, a true fantasy island. Can't wait to tip back a cool one with you at your pub. I too am married to a british Ann. Where are you located. We plan to visit next year to see our kids who plan to attend school in Europe. Island Visitor can you walk all us mac users through your scenario for getting pictures with this post. They come up on pc at work but not at home and since your e-mail is not listed, I can't send you a private message. Thanks.

Hi carmen. When i said private mail, there is a private mail feature on this site. Just click on someone's handle and then you can send them a message.

Anyway, which operating system do you have and which browser? If you have OS 9 and above and Microsoft Internet Explorer, try this:

1. Click the Explorer link on the bar at the top.

2. Open Preferences

3. Click "web content" under "web browser"

4. Make sure that you have checked the areas that say 'show gifs' and 'show pictures'

In netscape, again open preferences and go to 'security' and make sure that 'accept pictures' is clicked.

For those of you running safari, go into the preferences and make sure that java and cookies are accepted in the security area.

Try that and see if it works. Any Mac Addict wanting to try and walk through this, click my handle to send me a private message and I will see what we can do. For many of you, this may do the trick

IV,

I can say this, knowing Carmen, he is shall we say "challenged" when it comes to computers! LOL :) (self professed so I can repeat this)

Now the good news is he is a wonderful guy and is married to a brilliant women so he makes up for it.

IV-thanks for helping everyone out with the viewing problems. John was so nice to take the time for his trip report and the whole gang is happy and refreshed readings his adventures. As an added bonus Jacque and his lovely wife are hitting the island within days and this should produce yet another movie hit. We are all very lucky to experience the island through so many others eyes. Best regards, Erma

p.s.-Carmen, now I can actually recognize you...the c.i. cagle thing through me off!!! Welcome to the board, again. :)

..good way to start off another day of dreaming about our next visit...nice report...184 days and counting...got to love the cheap wine trick at high end prices...now, back to Radio Margaritaville and some more work...
