Happy to say that yesterday Flammnds was still beautiful and no sign of sargassum…now, can someone stop this rain for a bitYea and while Flamands is nice and clear there are several clusters of sargassum moving in. This is bad news but I’m gonna check er out in the morning to see if maybe the current kept it going by.
the worst rainy season I have seen since I have lived here. looking out my window the other night, it was a river running down the road. this rain has caused small landslides, small boulders have gotten loose and fallen on the road in gustavia near public. its raining now as I write this, crazy. make it stop!Happy to say that yesterday Flammnds was still beautiful and no sign of sargassum…now, can someone stop this rain for a bit![]()

Audition of St Barth makes the inserts that block the music and you can hear what people are saying. Some of the wait staff at Nikki Beach uses them. It also helps protect their ears and you can hardly see them… it’s crazy how loud Nao can get even when almost empty.I see a huge uptick in sales of hearing aids coming!
Cisterns are full again! Of course the rains come after I paid to pump city water up the hill….. . . but, how the gardens must be growing lush & green!

Sad to say that after many beautiful days at Flammand the sargassum has decided to make its presence known there also…a real mess. Sooooo we wandered over to Saline today and while there is still a band of sargassum on shore the water is clear. Horrible smell that you will need to ignore tho! Not sure why the beach cleaner rig has not been around to clean things up better!the worst rainy season I have seen since I have lived here. looking out my window the other night, it was a river running down the road. this rain has caused small landslides, small boulders have gotten loose and fallen on the road in gustavia near public. its raining now as I write this, crazy. make it stop!

It’s better now and no sargassum in the water. There is a band of it on the beach but still a walkable situation except at far end near storm water outlet. Flammands is now affected pretty bad so Saline/Gouvenor it is! And you’re right…sad to see this!We were at Saline last week for a visit. Sargassum was piled up high. Machinery was working hard at right end of beach to clear it away but it seemed like a never ending battle because it was just kept coming in again in swarms from the sea. Sad to see Saline like that.
Sargassum back in a big way today at Saline. In the water and on the beach. The old philosophy of switching sides of the island to avoid the stuff no longer applies. It’s on every beach now. Apparently this is one of the worst years on record for sargassum blooms! It’s better now and no sargassum in the water. I really liked the menu, the views from small tables closest to the water are stunning, cannot tolerate the loud music. I enjoy having conversation with my family and friends while dining. Oh well, lots of other choices on the Island![]()
