Beach Updates

Very nice! Enjoy your lunch at Le Grain de Sel . . . and I'll be eager to read a report from you!
Went to Grain de Sel the other day. Loved it. Food was great, it looks so pretty. I always really enjoyed it, and it's less local feeling now, but it's still great. Enjoy

St. Jean is still covered. Tons of equipment out this morning raking the beach and putting sargassum in dumpsters. Eden Rock was very busy cleaning their beach for their guests. And I’m seeing a ton now over by airport.
Heading to other side of island later and will check beaches out there.

Nikki beach side of St. Jean was clear this morning. Side by airport not so clean.
Gouvenor yesterday afternoon looked pretty good…just a little sargassum along edge of beach.

Hate to ask a stupid question...SB Veteran...but haven.t been back in 8 years...where does all this sargassem come from in the first place...it was there years ago...but not to this degree..

As of this morning St. Jean was covered on Eden Rock side…tons by airport. Hiked over to Manapany and their beach was covered also. Will take ride later to check out Saline. Have not been to Flamands side yet.

Saline was covered with piles along coastline. More so to the right where there was machinery removing it. Not many people out there but those who were sitting were to the left. Water was swimable towards the left after you maneuvered through the piles of sargassum.
We sat for a while…breeze was nice but not a good beach day.

Nikki side of St. Jean looked good this morning. Heading to Ti Corail soon and will see what that beach is like.
Yes we also heard it was coming from the Amazon as a result of the heavy rain runoff as a result of many trees being cut down there.

Took a walk over to Shell Beach this morning. Sargassun covering the entire line of beach and tons floating in water towards the right. They have raked the area where chairs are set up pretty clean but the smell is lingering which would make unpleasant beach sitting.
St. Jean looks great on both sides.

Dropped in to Saline yesterday for a look see…absolutely polluted with sargassum on shore and in the water. Will take a good long while to clean that up! On a good note Flammads was beautiful!

We have been making the rounds and so far things have been good. St. Jean and Lorient were perfect. It’s been ages since we’ve been to Lorient but it was so peaceful. And it appears like the fence that impeded the hike up to Autour du Roche is gone.

Yesterday we got up early, grabbed some breakfast at Eden to Go and headed to Colombier. There are now stone steps all the way down to the beach, making entry and exit much easier. Water was crystal clear. We snorkeled along the right hand wall and were pleased to see the state of the coral. Plenty of fish and 2 turtles 🐢!

What about Anse de Salines? Can't wait to get there in 3.5 weeks :)))

Happy to report the airport side of St Jean was clear today. Rainy morning followed by overcast skies provided a nice break for a mellow lunch at NAO. Weather was a bit windy last week which kept temps very nice, then Sunday/Monday it warmed up.
NAO was very quiet. We’ve learned not to go at busy times (like Thanksgiving week) but on a day like today it was less than half full and very mellow. The menu has changed slightly with a few new additions. My kiwi margarita was excellent—not too sweet which is key—and our shared first courses and sushi roll were all quite good. We also shared a Yuzu pavlova, not at all a traditional pavlova, delicious all the same.
Then walked by Pearl Beach. Happy to report it was busy (as Robert Palmer sings) with “every kinda people.”🌞

Very happy that you found Nao to be "very quiet!" I stopped going there about a year ago because (a) the DJ's music was defeaning and (b) when I asked if he could turn the volume down a bit, he said "if you don't like it, maybe you should go down to Nikki Beach!"). They obviously don't need my business.

Everyone is “down market” to someone.
