Entries close at 11:00ET today

With 507 miles left to race as of 10:48AM, I'm going to close the contest to new entries.

Good luck to those who entered. Below is a list of entries sorted by boat and finish time. Let me know if I listed your entry incorrectly. This year’s race may be the fastest yet for La Transat Ag2r La Mondiale. This year’s race may be the first to finish in less than 19 days, a record set in 2006.

With 500 miles to go, there's still many opportunities for the lead to change. A bad encounter with the rafts of sargassum which are in the area could be disastrous. Catching the right wind - both Agir Recouvrement and Bretagne CMB Performance dipped a bit south, looking for more wind - could make a huge difference.

The Race Village is being setup on the quay, and I think it opens tomorrow.

We have a winner, both of the race and of the contest! Agir Recouvrement has crossed the finish line in Gustavia harbor, to a cacophony of noise! Bretagne CMB Performance will finish about an hour behind them. Agir (and most of the other boats) has been mostly sailing under spinnaker since they rounded the mark at La Palma in the Canary Islands. This has lead to a record-breaking finish time, shaving well more than a day off of the previous record set in 2006.

Two entrants chose Agir Recouvrement as the race winner, Andynap and Didoer. Didier picked the later of the two finish times, and is the contest winner. Congratulations!

Diana, I'll reach out to WIMCO to find out how to collect your prize, and will send you a PM in the next day or so.

Thanks to all who entered. I hope that you had fun with this. Maybe we'll do it again in 2 years, for the next edition of the race.

Thanks also to Rosita, for providing realtime on-the-water photos of the last few miles of the race, which you'll find at the end of the https://www.sbhonline.com/forums/showthread.php/93295 thread.

And Thanks to WIMCO SBH for donating the winning prize, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot.

The winning time was 18D 11H 48M 32S, beating the former record of 19D 22H 24M 30S by more than 1 day and 10.5 hours.
