Business Questions on the Island Round 2

Apologies for posting another business-oriented question--I'm sure you're arriving to the island to unwind from Business!

I wanted to ask however if anyone is aware of the 5 year tax rule. Whereby having a company registered in St Barths for 5 years is qualified as being a zero tax company (first 5 years being taxed a French company). Moreover, I believe if one were to purchase a company already in existence for at least 5 years that the new company would benefit from the zero tax policy.

How does one obtain residency (or rather, obtain the right to live long enough 'to' obtain residency)?

Thanks!

This forum is pretty amazing with tons of knowledge about St. Barth’s, but shouldn’t you engage an on island attorney?

The 5-year tax rule in St. Barths is indeed a major draw, but from what I’ve seen in similar business circles, the biggest hurdle isn't the tax law itself it's maintaining the 'substance' and local administrative compliance during those first 5 years to actually qualify.

Many founders focus on the tax percentage and forget about the operational drag of running a remote entity under French-based regulations. While researching how to handle the back-office side of offshore scaling, I decided to get started with a breakdown of coordination models that help manage administrative complexity. In regions like this, your success often depends on how cleanly you distribute responsibilities between local requirements and your core team. It’s definitely worth looking into a solid BPO structure before you commit to the move.

Hmmmm..... at least three quick thoughts:
First, is this a bot talking to a bot? That's pretty interesting!
Second, I like the "touch grass" pic.
Third, in answer to the question of "...How does one obtain ... the right to live long enough 'to' obtain residency?" I'd say, don't smoke, exercise regularly, eat a Mediterranean diet, have good social connections. :D:D:D

Let's just pretend I'm a bot it's easier that way :D
