Pre-Trip Report

Lucali for dinner tonight.
Not sure what pricing hysteria was about.
Least expensive dinner of the trip. By far.
Malfy gin Martinis.
San Pelegrino
Argiano Rosso di Montalcino.
Shared a salade, then aubergines parmigiana and classic size Margarita pizza with anchovies.
Brought home leftovers.
The pizza looks like nothing. But, was the most ethereal, light-on-its-feet pizza I’ve ever had. Aubergines also excellent.
Gville parking was insane tonight.
Guess that shuttle a bust 🤷‍♂️
They apparently reduced prices after the initial shock. And I like Malfi Gin for it's botanical taste. It's probably good with anchovies from Margherita.

Not sure. They have two sizes of pizza. XXL and classique. I think initially just the giant one (big enough for a crowd) ???
So don’t think they reduced prices. Definitely expanded menu though.

It was more about calzones than about pizza.

We were there a few weeks after opening and they had two sizes of calzone. The price of the large was 76 euro.
Given conversion at the time that was approx $88.
Looks like the menu has been amended.

L’Isola again tonight. Our canteen until CapOne calls with credit limit warning. 🥸
Coming from the East, there was a solid line of traffic from the airport to centre ville Gustavia ! Insane. Where’s that shuttle? 😎

Walking back up Sam Fahlberg after dinner to fetch the car then retrieve Mme Cassidain, I passed this scene and reflected upon how our resident genteel boulevardier might have reacted to those turned back from Le Café, awaiting a nod from the door gorilla to enter.

Don’t you love having a favorite “canteen” . . . where you know that you’ll be warmly welcomed & find seats when, & where, you are most comfortable! Thank you, as well, for your nod to the memorable rejection of me from Le Cafê because I was wearing (albeit very fine) short pants (not to be forgotten that a friend was rejected a week or so later because he was wearing “inappropriate“ footwear — leather sandals). The photo says so much. (It’s a pity, BTW, because I love a great piano cabaret! . . . if I were younger, & my wife wouldn’t divorce me, I can imagine starting one!)

I see somebody in shorts and a baseball hat waiting too. Or is it just a passerby?
