Making My Own Reservations

It's been a few years since I've posted here, but I have been lurking...... This is the best forum for insights to the island. We are back again in early March and I can't wait.
My question:
I've had rental agents or a concierge book all of my restaurant reservations on SBH for many years. This year, due to extenuating circumstances, we are renting directly from an owner. I will need to book tables myself. Quelle horreur! ;) I know. I'll survive.
I've tried OpenTable and other booking apps. I've tried the Google and restaurant websites. It seems that Access St Barth has the most comprehensive list and direct contact to restaurants on the island.
Do you have any advice for booking tables without local help?
Thanks for your help!

Go to the restaurant websites. There's usually an email address. Email them directly. I've had the best success that way.

I will be down late February and have emailed all my choices for lunch and dinner. All have responded except one. A few require a cc confirmation with a 24-48 cancellation.

I always make of all travel related reservations myself. I prefer to be in control of what we are doing. Emails usually work, but sometimes a follow up email or request through the restaurant website is necessary.

I'm a emailer for all reservations and they always seem to work. More restos have their own resy systems and the response is very quick.

Some of my favs I have in my address book:

Others? Please add if you a solid contact email!

Ti Corail uses WhatsApp. Or their gmail, I assume.

Going to dinner in SB lately is on par with signing a lease. Paperwork, scanners, huge deposits, penalties.

This is what I do... the only place I consistently did not get a response over the years was Shellona, but then I realized I didn't really like going there anyway - so, it worked out for both of us! :laughing-cry:

Shellona didn't get back to me either. So Le Toiny it is!

Le Papillion Ivre didn't get back to me, but a friend was on island, and she went in and made the rez in person for me.

Shellona, Nikki, Lisola, etc - Print the form, sign, CC#, 24 hour cancellation

wasn't interested in Shellona, but, yes, NB and L'Isola require a contractual security agreement.
agree it's off-putting.
wriggled out of it at L'Isola.

Usually made our own reservations for dining, remembering the days of writing on pad of paper attached somehow to the door or wall of wherever.
