WHAT ABOUT BAGATELLE?

I haven't eaten there in several years, but current reports I get are that food is good, with spotty service. Time to go is early in the evening, before the dancing & loud music begin.

Very rude service. Only went once. Would rather spend my money where the business is appreciated.

Thanks for the input. I don’t know why we have never been; we usually try to go to the new places, but have not made it to Bagatelle.

RT,

I try to hit at least one "new", "new to me", or "haven't been in decades"places on each trip.

My new places on my November trip were:

Le Barthélemy on Grand Cul de Sac - Twice for lunch at Le Barth. We did not go to the dinner restaurant, Aux Amis, as the menu did not appeal. They've recently added a Sunday Brunch offering. Some may like that, but I'm not a big fan of buffets, no matter the quality.

Maya's - Thanksgiving dinner with Phil, Amy, Bill, and Linda. T-day is a crazy day at Maya's. We had a good time (I had the Veal Chop), but it's unfair to re-judge Maya's based on Thanksgiving dinner.

Dick, Bill and I went last March....we went on a Tuesday because we were going to do the wine pairing dinner; but apparently, we had to make specific reservations for that ahead of time. So, we stayed anyway, and JC (from la Plage) took care of us. We were there early enough , and we had a corner booth; so the atmosphere was very pleasant. I thought the food was good; enough so that we would return again this year. I would give it a try, as long as you go fairly early. Hope to see you and Cecie in March!

Having JC as your waiter helps alot.

Went a few years back and will never go again.
Very bad customer service

Agreed. Had never eaten there but seen some recommendations for it over the years, so had dinner there on our last visit. One of the worst dining experiences anywhere ever. Thought food and wine were mediocre at best and outrageously overpriced. The place was only 3/4 full but service was still nowhere to be found (except when it was time for the check) and what there was of it was poor.

We have a good time there, and make certain to have dinner once each trip. We have not had any negative issues with service, and find the food is pretty good. (Maybe not L'isola or Eden Rock- but still enjoyable!). Around 10:30 or so, the music kicks in, and it becomes more of a club- though not to the extent of Le Ti. For us, this is fun and a nice change of pace from the quiet nights out to eat- but maybe not for everyone. When friends have visited the island for the first time, we suggest trying it once. Hope this helps!

Bagatelle is also part of a group think NYC etc, they have capitalized on their location and like Le Ti or Nikki Beach the ability to dance on your table. It can be a great experience as the location and ambience are terrific on the early side. After 22:00 they are shooting for bachelorette parties and thumping music and a raucous bar scene. It provides for both sides, just depends what you want. Crowd varies quite a bit from Monday to Saturday and some days are super quiet.

We went with our daughters last April. My female waiter was very argumentative from the start, which was irritating. I could not say or ask anything without some type of correction or negative comment. It made a great evening become very not fun. The setting (outside on the porch) was very nice, food was ok. I notice she added on to the bill a glass of the specific vino I was drinking and asked about it. Huge mistake (eruption)! The manager saw this occur and sent her away and he finished with my bill. Only bad experience in St Barth I can remember in 22 yrs. Not going back anytime soon/
