Glad September 1st is here and that the SBH trusted forum turnover is a success.

Consistent end of month shut down is so annoying for me!

Why can’t this shutdown at month’s end be fixed she asks?

A reasonable question, but one the moderators cannot answer.

someone has to know the answer, this is not a big mystery. if I were to fathom a guess, the site has new owners who don't pay for anything extra, when the space for the month runs out, it runs out without any additional payments.

It was fixed, but now it’s broken again. The site owners did in fact pay for additional monthly bandwidth (the fix), but that too has now been consumed. Without any real facts to go on, I blame the increasing consumption on the proliferation of AI models scanning sites for content.

This seems possible, Kevin. I am amazed by the outpouring of garbage posts I come upon during early morning forum peeks.

Claude has some ideas on blocking spam and also counting hits from web crawlers, but they need Admin approval. Sent you an email. with the ideas.

Just a thought from someone who is in this business - I don't know where the site is hosted, but these days, there are many hosting companies that offer unlimited bandwidth for much less than the "old school" hosting companies that have bandwidth limits do. It might be something to look into if possible. The problem with spambots and AI scraping bots is not going anywhere, and is most likely going to get worse.

I did a little investigative work, and from what I can tell, it is hosted by SuperWebHost.com - - which offers all unlimited bandwidth packages now. Perhaps SBHonline is on a legacy package with bandwidth limits? If this is the case, it would be an easy fix at the same or less cost.

I could be wrong, but do any of the mods know what the hosting company is?
