US Cell Phone

How do I use my US Verizon cell phone to call local number here in St Barts? Mainly concerned about using in an emergency as we have no phone in our room. I am all set with global service.
I know this has probably been answered many times, but can't seem to find info.

If you’re calling locally then you don’t need to get complicated with country codes, etc. Just dial the number, with a 0590 prefix for landlines, and a 0690 prefix for mobiles:

0590-xx-xx-xx for a landline, for example 0590-29-27-74 for Tamarin
or
0690-xx-xx-xx for a local mobile

Hold up. If it's a US phone with a US number, then you dial +590 690 xxxxxx for a local cell, or +590 590 xxxxxx for a landline.

That's the way it has always worked for me. Only a local Sim with a local number will allow you to dial local numbers directly. Even on International Roaming, you're still dialing with a US phone and a US number.

Thank you for the tip Phil. We use ATT and all is working perfectly. As a reminder to all- FaceTime is free with WI-FI to anywhere.
