Traveler's insurance to cover SXM

I've been a member of USAA for nearly 40 years and back then one needed to be active duty military to be a member, but those rules have been relaxed to discharged and family members. They don't offer the insurance themselves, but use a link to Travel Insured. The cost of a policy scales with the cost of the trip, so a $5,000 trip costs about $280. Another factor is age. That same trip at age 25 is $168.

I just looked back and we have paid $58, $62, and $74 per person the last 3 times we have bought insurance. You have to be a USAA member but they outsource to Travel Insured info@travelinsured.com. We only cover our villa expenses and airfare costs. Usually about 3K.

That's about right. We use USAA, just in case. Only one "blip" in years of visiting SBH (parking lot problem here and the notorious TSA.) Our only expense was an overnight stay and taxis in SBH (We didn't bother filing a claim.) Our rental geniuses (Ici & La) figured out all the rest.
