Travel Questions?

SBH Insider
I am still planning out our trip to SBH in November and trying to figure out how to ease travel.

Ultimately, we made the decision to arrive to SBH via SXM (yes, I know) and we will be using SBC for the last leg of our trip in both directions. It’s a bit disappointing to read that SXM is still a construction site (I have read that the second floor is still closed an under construction). I am trying to figure out if I need to get in contact with Vincent of PIV or not.

From my last trip in 2019 I seem to remember agents from SBC meeting passengers at the terminal entrance (not sure if this was a special service or not). So the question is, on the way to SBH will SBC meet us at the entrance to the terminal and usher us quickly through security or is this something we will need to contact PIV for this service?

I don’t mind spending the money on PIV, I just don’t want to waste money when I don’t have to. I am figuring PIV will need needed on the way back to the US.

Thank you for the replies, this is great information.

Now, what happens if you have checked baggage. Do they take care of that for you or is that going to be an issue?

I can’t speak to that as I travel with carry on only.

We just did the trip with SBC and checked bags. On the way down they meet you, ask for your bag tags, and the next thing you know you are on the island and so are your bags. Great service IMHO.

I generally agree with all that has been written by others. I’d suggest, however, that you simply write to SBC — https://www.stbarthcommuter.com/en/contact.php — and ask them. First hand experience, of course is invaluable. “If anything can go wrong, however . . ..” it might be valuable for you to have input “from the horse’s mouth.”

Not a bad idea to email them as they are probably small enough to respond to my email. I imagine I figured they were too busy to answer my questions (hahahaha).

Always good to get opinions with people who have been there before.

I find SBC to be very responsive. It's owned and managed by children of the former President, Bruno Magras, and they're both very client-oriented, in my experience. (And, BTW, very nice people.)

I think on the way to SBH, SBC will meet you at the entrance to the terminal and usher you quickly through security. We often encounter such problems when we travel, too. Where do you usually travel to? For example, I almost always travel to non-resort cities and countries. For me, such places are the most attractive and interesting to explore. I recommend visiting some islands in Italy. They are the most beautiful places I've seen in a while. The island of Caprera impressed me the most. You can also organize a two-week trip around European countries. Such trips are filled with emotional, memorable moments. When I travel, I always look for Hilton Hotel Deals. This hotel chain offers the best facilities at affordable prices.

We were running incredibly late last week flying into Julianna. 51 minutes from landing to getting on shuttle to Francis of SBC meetings us at the door, to his taking our bag tags to getting us through customs. 51 minutes. + they held the plane for us. Our bags did not make it on the plane however they were waiting for us behind the SBC desk 2 hours later. SBC is the way to go

Thank you for this information. We have never flown SBC before so this trip will be a learning experience. I was just trying to figure out if we needed Vincent to help us expedite the process. We ended up asking for help with our return home (SBH-SXM-BOS direct). Last thing I want is to be irritated at the end of my vacation.

With all of the flights being canceled lately I am not overly optimistic that we will actually make it to SXM (we are flying United BOS-EWR-SXM). I did book the latest flight I could on SBC which is suppose to give us a 3.5 hour window (I sprung for the refundable tickets).... but again, I'm not optimistic we will actually make it to SXM.
