we recently booked our air tickets for February '27 trip. ran the numbers with RT thru SJU, ones ways outbound to SXM/return from SJU, and multi-city itineraries via AA and DL with TW and/or WA/SBC connections. (I will consider outbound connecting thru SXM with PIV coddling but will not even contemplate return thru SXM.)
grand totals all flights and services accounted for (with front cabin fares) were virtually identical RT thru SJU and one ways SXM/SJU. so we're doing RT thru SJU with RT TW to/from SBH.
obviously those who fly nonstop to SJU or SXM from major markets may likely encounter different variables.

Did you note, Cass, any increase in air fares that likely would be attributable to oil issues related to the Iran "war?"

Right. I assumed $850/flight for TW. That fair ?

We paid $1,923 each for TW RT in January. Add on VIP is now $300.

But yes, fares generally range one way from $500 ish to $900 ish. Depending on conditions

We usually don't require it but next time we are skipping the overnight in SJU and flying on to the island same day.

We are overnighting in CLT and will arrive next morning SJU with ample time for TW flight, so hopefully can fetch our own bags from baggage claim and head to TW check-in without undue stress.

A related question. Where do you all overnight in San Juan? We've stayed happily at La Concha several times, in an AirBnb less successfully, and at Dreamcatcher and a Marriot last two times (never again). Looking for alternatives! Need dog-friendly.

We do San Juan airport hotel. Arrive late, stay overnight, leave on early morning flight over.
Just did it a few weeks ago. Simple but at the airport and very convenient. And they have updated their buffet breakfast. Had bacon and eggs and pastries before our flight.
