Ti' Corail Today

greetings to you as well !

the French are accustomed to waiting an hour and a half just to get the serveur/serveuse to bring l'addition to their tables :ROFLMAO:

personally, I find the island culture to be genuinely French. when that ceases to be the case I'll probably move on. but, I don't think that's going to happen.

I'm generally appreciative of Ti Corail. Though I have had both good and poor experiences with both food and service.

I wish Yann no ill will, but I consider his decisions to require CC guarantees and to wedge 3 services into lunchtime hours to be poorly taken. when I text him for a reservation next month, if he insists on a CC guarantee I, like Dad and others, will decline.
if I do go in march and if there is a problem with the timing then your line of people waiting to take my place are welcome to it.
Again, Ti Corail does not ask for a cc number to make your reservation. They ask you to sign a Reservation Contract that says that if you don't cancel your reservation 24 hours before they will send you a payment link in order for you to pay a penalty via email. They don't even say what the penalty is or what happens if you don't pay it. They do not ask for your cc number up front. It is more like a scouts honor pinky swear note that you will not be a no-show. I find this much less egregious than sending over your cc number in advance. And, I guess once they know you well enough, they don't even send that out. I really don't get what the big deal is, seems like much ado about nothing. 🤷‍♀️

In the midst of the annual Hilton Head & Bluffton Restaurant week now, I organized 5 women to return to the same restaurant as last year on Hilton Head for tomorrow night. A credit card was required & the 'rules' listed...must cancel within a short time period before the dining date, if not within 2 days & cancel a $25 pp fee deducted from my card, & if the number of guests declines a fee too & if no show a $25 pp fee. More & more restaurants here in the lowcountry of SC & across the river in Savannah are all jumping on this bandwagon. As we all know, running/owning a restaurant, of any size or demeanor is a risky business, bottom line credit card on file is a form of protection for those brave enough to run & own a restaurant. And here's the but, I would not give a card for a pub or lunch type place where I live, yet many places here, even in Beaufort, a reservation is required or preferred.

Palmetto Bluff, a 20K acre historic plantation with many homes, golf course, equestrian center & a Montage hotel on the grounds and several restaurants within the hotel buildings probably require cc guarantees with reservations. Oddly at Christmas when going to Buffalo's, the casual restaurant in the original village, no cc required or reservation for lunch. And we lingered over an excellent lunch & shared dessert. Beautiful glassware !

If returning to SBH, I think I might comply to experience Ti Corail...
