Tamarin vs Esprit

I agree with Kevin.
We often stop for drinks at Tamarin before dinner at L'Esprit. Occasionally we still dine at Tamarin--esp w/first time visitors--though generally less and less. It is still very beautiful!
Of note: I emailed to inquire re: dates for L'Esprit's annual holiday. They will be closed from June 13 (I assume after service) until August 1.
Also, in low season/summer months they usually switch to a pre fixe 3 course (more limited) menu.

For our criteria, Tamarin between those two.
But, L’Isola our go-to for best cuisine, scene, fun, ambiance, etc. combination.

Thanks for checking. Going July and Dec so it looks like tamarin again then try esprit in later this year.

Tamarin’s setting is romantic; the beautiful garden ambiance on a quiet evening cannot be matched, but it is easily ruined by loud tables and hit‑or‑miss service and kitchen. We no longer dine at Tamarin, taking only an apéro or a digestif in the garden.

L'Esprit guarantees a lovely evening, less romantic but with sublime gastronomy, thanks to the hardest working Chef on SBH.

J-C's cuisine is very good. But, for a very expensive evening out we find the scene/fun/ambiance factor to be a dud. A perennial fave for lots of forum folk though. Enjoy !

I feel that L'Esprit pricing is very reasonable compared to many other fine dining establishments on the Island. Not just witnessing J-C's hard work ethic, Tof is running around swiftly all evening assuring everyone is enjoying themselves.
Great there are so many fine restaurants to fill everyone's desires and choices... YMMV

Years ago, I had a bad experience at Tamarind (I probably should revisit but there was a real loudmouth crowd there when I went), but I am a devoted L'Esprit fan and made a real effort to celebrate there for birthday and anniversary if I could only go once per trip. Usually I go twice if I am on the island for 8 nights or so! It is my favorite but L'Isola was such a great evening with the Royals ( A & P..you know who you are! ❤️ )..Oh, yeah, it can be pretty romantic, too! 😅 (Have you met foie gras and Champagne? Such a happy couple!)

We are going to try dinner tonight at Le Tamarin. I will keep stoking the fire.
Can not wait to be presented the SUCKER BOARD :)

Tamarin does use an ardoise for nightly specials, but I really don't recall any sucker listings. But, YMMV 😎
