St. Barth Commuter ROCKS

Karen

Senior Insider
We had our first experience with St Barth Commuter and had wonderful and pain-free boarding and flights. Many thanks to those that recommended them and for the heads up that the pilots are cute. I can indeed confirm that even though I wasn't chosen to ride in the co-pilot seat. :)

right, but that doesn't work for everyone, AA doesn't do bags straight though and US Air doesn't have direct flights to NYC and we save a lot of money by using SB Commuter...

Ellen- I said whatever works. USAIR doesn't fly non-stop to Philly during the week either but it saves us from going to the ticket counter in SXM and going home that's worth a lot. We do go with SBC going down tho.

SBC is cheaper but has less flights. I use SBC going down but coming home on USAIR I use Winair because they have an agreement and will send my baggage thru so I don't have to go thru immigration and customs in SXM

Be bold on the way home, hokie, and be the first to ASK! I'm not as young as Lena (MikeR's daughter) and I always sit in the co-pilot seat!

Ellen, am I not correct that your nemesis is the sole proprietor of SBC?

Mr Magras is not under any circumstances "my nemesis" as you say, in fact I admire him very much for a lot of different reasons. However, I am—as everyone knows—very upset that the island council voted to put an industrial zone across the street from my house including the rock crushing operation that drives me crazy, but let's not mix apples and oranges. We have a close rapport with many of the elected officials, for our film festival for example, and I still prefer to fly SB Commuter whenever possible...

I'm glad you clarified that. I hadn't suspected you felt so warmly towards Mr Magras and his Conseil Territorial. Good to hear. :)

Well, I discovered that SBC flies into Grand Case, which is a plus for us. Normally, we spend some time on the french side of SXM and spend the next week in SBH or begin in SBH and end in SXM. For us, it would be a plus to use them and avoid the long cab ride from Juliana. I wanted to check them out this time since we did not visit SXM this trip but probably will next time.
Either way, we have had great luck with Winair every other time from SXM to other islands besides SBH. Upon booking this trip and reading opinions on this forum, SBC did save us some money and the flights worked out great, time-wise.
SBC was great about communication and the check-ins were flawless.

I even have a sister-in-law on the council and we like her very much as well !

Wendi sits on the Planning Board for our resort town. which is a fairly powerful board who literally controls the growth and direction of our town...so far she hasnt done anything to make me not like her....LOL

So...you get to sit in the co-pilots set?

more or less...she respects my many years of resort living and working and will listen to me for sure....but I am clearly the more moderate of the two of us in regards to most of what I say and feel on resort growth and development...so take it from there..I feel pretty safe with her on the Board...she is a pit bull against mainstreaming and development

As a guy that is married to a woman way more successful and powerful than I could ever hope to be, I understand.

Powerful wives rock.

yep....for me..its a been there done that attitude....I have fought all these fights for many years...and sat on all these boards and sub committees....and won many of the fights...and lost a few too.....and she got to watch me fight these fights too in the beginning of "us".....so now its her turn and thats fine.....I am more than happy to sit back and be a spectator at this point in my life and just advise when asked.....suits me just fine

someone else can expend the energy now....LOL

I just want to catch fish, coach hoops, and run the bookstore thank you very much...
