Sand Bar another miss

I have long admired an artist who lives on St. Barths and purchased several of her paintings in March. The duties/tariffs were outrageous. Typically, original artwork was duty-free under U.S. Customs law, but the new tariffs have changed everything. How is this not hurting American citizens? Adding to the tariffs, DHL did a miserable job shipping and repacking the paintings after they were inspected and left the paintings leaning against my garage on a rainy day instead of carrying them a few yards to my covered front entrance area.

I previously ordered Tuscan wines & olive oil directly from a couple of wineries I had visited in October of 2023 & which don't export, but once the tariffs hit, no longer affordable.

Jeanette sorry for your horrible DHL experience, I hope your treasures are ok? Rare to see any DHL in my part of SC. I remember the DHL planes at SBH.

Oh no, that’s awful, Jeanette.

I hear you on the food at Nikki. I have had some incredible sushi there, and I have had some pretty not incredible sushi there. A few years ago I was a guest at a large birthday celebration and I had the best Beef Wellington of my life and some mashed potatoes good enough to lick your plate when nobody's looking. Then, shortly thereafter was there with some first timers that had to go there, and had a shoe leather steak. It really is inconsistent.
I think Nikki Beach kitchen simply cannot handle consistently well the amount of people that their popularity brings in. I would blame lack of training for the mediocre service we received. In one case we had a waitress who cold not distinguish sushi from sashimi. Not sure what could be the reasons for the cases of the mediocre cooking/delivery in Sand Bar though.

It almost as if someone doesn't understand how tariffs work.
