San Juan Airport

Could we purchase food at the airport prior to going through security and then bring it here to the lounge?

tradewinds rep said there’s a sandwich shop but that’s before security. Makes no sense there would be less food after security!

what kind of food can we bring that security/agriculture won’t take from us?

we will eat a large breakfast but we get there at 10:30am for a flight at 12:45pm. So I’d prefer to eat closer to the dept at least the kids, so we don’t have to eat on the plane!

You can bring in any food, except pork, no pork products. You can declare what items you bring into the USA on your customs form.

I seem to remember the TSA agents telling people that they can't bring any food through security. Do I have that wrong? I know you can't bring any fruits and vegtables from SBH through the USDA check.

You are not allowed to bring into the USA fruits and vegetables nor any pork products. We bring cook food from Trinidad. Also we bring cheese. can sardines and some other stuff from Spain . We usually declare it on our customs form .

We never filled out a customs form

You can't get back in if you don't! Even on Global Entry you have to declare you have nothing to declare and print out the form.

Well last Saturday we went through global entry in San Juan after deplaning Tradewind and never filled anything out. They usually give us forms on flight over. Never got them. After global entry we showed customers agent our paper receipt and he asked if we had anything to declare and we said no. Never asked for any form. We were then on our way.
I think we fell through the cracks that day.

GE was the same with us too. We stopped doing the USDA bag inspection too. There are more stickers on the floor than on the bags.

Hi there! How much time did you have in between your flights? Were there any restaurants open yet?

When returning to the US on Monday through SJU, I had 2-1/2 hours from SJU arrival to boarding AA flight to CLT. No problem.

The Margheritaville restaurant was just opening little before noon when we were recently there. It’s in terminal with American

thanks Dennis! We are actually staying at CEC in December so trying to get my ducks in a row, since American is causing all of these issues for us.

Did you go to the tradewinds lounge on Monday or just waited at the gate for the 2-1/2 hours. We have TSA precheck so hopefully won’t be too bad.
