Road Construction 2026

SBH Insider
Found on the Facebook page. For the folks on island recently (or always) - could you comment regarding the level of closure? I'm assuming can't be completely shut down. Just reduced to 1-way traffic at times? Specifically VT54, VT47, and ADC/Colombier. Note to self: go to SBH in November.

this will also make Mr Dennis happy ☺️
It will be so nice to have the sidewalk extended along the main road & down to Le Sereno & Ti Corail!! I have to wonder, however, about what is going to be done re: parking in the area. I expect that as the road down to Sereno & Ti Corail is improved, parking along the road there no longer will be tolerated.

i know for a fact that the Collectivité has been searching in that area for space where it could construct a parking lot, but I can’t see where it might be. That is, I expect that Sereno will be utilizing the parking lot at “La Kala,” and the only other space I see that could be available for parking is the vacant lot which formerly was the “Lafayette Club“ . . . and that would be pretty high-priced parking.

It’s really Ti Corail and beachgoers who have parking problems, right?
Since we just go to Al Mare, not an issue for us 🤓
Other than the annoyance due to those who make a two lane road a one lane road 🤨

Hi Dennis,
On a related topic, have you noticed the Amnios patrons parking on the road? The big SUVs park away from the side such that the passenger can open their door. It is really dangerous around the curve. I am hoping that parking along that area comes to stop. I had a harrowing experience last week with scooters in both directions zooming by and of course you have to drift into the left lane (heading to Grand Fond) to avoid the parking lot on the street which has to take to the traffic that you cannot see going up the hill and around the curve.

You've made a very subtle point? Moust people simply dont understand danger of the road. People need more free space to parking.

Yes . . . parking on the road there creates a dangerous situation, especially as it is a curve in the road.

this island is still in its gonzo stage, like living in the wild wild west, anything goes. park where you want....no one tows your car even if the building has a tow sign. chickens and roosters running free range everywhere, I do like that.

Anyone who has gotten a 135€ parking ticket in Gustavia might disagree - and they do ticket there frequently. There is also a new fourrière (car pound) in Saline so maybe they are thinking of towing a little more?

well, I did not say you would not get a ticket. I said no one is going to tow you unless you plan on leaving your car for days while you take a flight.
