Return To The Reef

It's such a great pleasure to go scuba diving in the St. Barthelemy Marine Preserve. I enjoy seeing the healthy reef, the hard and soft corals, the lobsters, who are protected inside the preserve, and the abundant sea life. Here are a few photos from my dive today on the south side of Le Pain de Sucre.

Yes! So happy to see your underwater photos. The sea life you captured looks vibrant and healthy. Thank you for sharing!!

Thanks for taking us along! Beautiful photos of a part of the island that few get to experience.

Beautiful! Never knew st barths had such colorful marine life. Will have to try and figure out how to squeeze in my mask and snorkel.

No exceptions made for taking the dragon fish in the preserve? I guess it would take an act of congress or the French equivalent.

> Is this also a better place to snorkel than, for example, Île Fourchue?

I have only seen one Lionfish so far during three dives. Since spearfishing is not permitted in the Marine Park, those that reside within Park boundaries are probably safe. Le Pain de Sucre ("Sugar Loaf") is not a site for snorkeling. The shore is rocky with dangerous waves and currents. I would suggest some of the beaches of St. Barth for snorkeling, e.g., Colombier and Petit Anse.
