Return To The Reef IV: Diving The Whale Of Sugar Loaf

Jim Kelly-Evans

Senior Insider
Les Baleines are a couple of smaller rock pinnacles rising from the ocean floor to the west of Le Pain de Sucre (Sugar Loaf.) Here are some photos from my final dive this visit to the island on one of the Baleines known as "The Whale." It looks a little like a whale as you approach it. At age 73 I'm in my 42nd year of scuba diving. Diving is challenging but I plan to try to stay healthy and fit and able to return to diving in St. Barth next year if Father Time and nature will allow.

WOW! Simply amazing, Jim. I get great enjoyment in seeing your dive photos; thank you, again, for taking us along on your underwater journeys! 2023 will be another great year of diving on St. Barths for you, no doubt!

Jim, you do so much to show us landlubbers what is doing under the sea. Your taking the photos and your taking the time to post and share them...PRICELESS.

Wishing you and Dan safe travels and good health as you head home.

Until next year
Hugs
Amy

PS Your other hat. Just back from a wonderful lunch experience at Tropical Hotel. Folks, make room on your dining lists, it's a winner!

Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos. I just grabbed Kona to view your latest installment with me. It is fun to scroll through and have him name all the species of fish you saw (years of living on Hawaii helped). I don't recall the one he was stumped on one of your earlier dives. Made us reminisce about trips to the Great Barrier Reef, Tahiti and surrounding islands. While mere snorkelers, we were encouraged to consider giving another look at some of the life enhancing places we have seen. I hope you had a lovely trip. Safe travels home. Kimberly

Thanks for your final installment Jim!

A reminder for those of us who may forget which islet is which!
