Resto trip report May 2024

Greetings St. Barth friends. Thoughts from our resto experience last May...first night through fifteen with grades. Eddy’s 8, L’Esprit 10, Bonito 7, Le Repair 7, Tamarin 10, Les Bananiers 9, Beef Bar 10, Grain de Sel 10, L’Esprit 11, Sand Bar 10, Le Repair 9, Tamarin 10, take out (my first take out dinner on the island) Les Bananiers 10, Baz Bar 6, Eddy’s 10.

Thanks for this reporting! Sounds like you dined very happily.

Is it a scale of 1 to 10 . . . with 11 being off the chart excellent? All are dinners . . . i .e., no lunches? How much, if at all, do you find your rankings to be influenced by surroundings (e.g., Tamarin gardens) &/or the pleasure of company in dining companions? Interesting that Le Repaire & Bonito rank the same at 7 . . . slightly better than Baz Bar carry out.

Beef Bar started out with some mixed reviews as I recall. Have they ironed out wrinkles and broadly enjoy accolades now, or still a mixed bag for diners? We haven't been yet.

So with Baz Bar being the lowest "grade", any details to share as to why it ranked so low? It's in our rotation for July so it might be helpful to get a clearer picture. So happy to see Tamarin doing so well. We are looking forward to revisiting after it fell off our list for a couple of years.

And how did Eddy’s earn and extra 2 on the 2nd try?

We just didn’t know what to order at Baz. Service was great though.

Service is always great. They are our first and last night. The food was off the first night and a home run the last.

Did not notice any challenges. Service amazing food as well.

I easily could have gone to 11’s on L’Esprit & Tamarin. We spent more time on chairs at Caribe Waterplay this time around than any other vacation. Various lunch choice‘s #1 was Sereno where we got a chance to meet you in person. Sand Bar, Le Select, Bar de L’Oubli, Pearl 3 times, Kiki-e Mo 4 or 5 times, (I brought a bottle of wine in the villa cooler for paninis) I have to check my notes on the rest. Le Repaire is usually better. As for dining companions, great meeting you and seeing Phil & Amy is always wonderful. As for influenced by surroundings…being in St. Barth no matter where we dine is paradise. Of course Tamarin is the most beautiful location.
