Mike

In June, I have seen Andy turn away American and French couples who just show up at his restaurant. ( Warm beer and a view of the parking lot, but reservations suggested) Trust you will understand and not give him a hard time and maybe consider making a call maybe an hour ahead of time to see if he can give you a good seat, and not one next to his office, or be sent to Le Pimmet for dinner when he can't seat you.

went twice last June without a call...Andy both times gave us a great table..a smile...sat and chatted for a few.... and than we had a great dinner...the place was 1/4 full when we got there...one half full when we left.....but of course we dont try to go on Sunday night ......and we do go between 715 and 745 usually.....

but of course if it ever comes to what you described..we will certainly call..I do recall having to go one Sunday one year to meet friends and we did make a reservation for that

Re: Newbie Info du Jour

After 5 pages of posts on this topic, do we have any conclusions? My take, and what I've always done, call ahead and reserve for dinner, usually it's been the 4 of us and on numerous occasions 6. We've never reserved for lunch having deemed it unncessary as we've never had a problem getting a table at our usual lunch spots.

Re: Newbie Info du Jour

george...the conclusion is as it always is...you re on vacation....do what makes you happy and are comfortable doing....anything else is irrelevant...

George,

In 13 hours there have been some 550 reads and 42 replies. I picked a good topic to post on, as it has generated some good discussion.

My take on the discussion is:

My original post is still valid, but should be strengthened to more strongly encourage people to make reservations.
Make reservations whenever you can, even if only 20 minutes ahead of time.
My friend MikeR isn't going to change, and those who disagree shouldn't waste their time. And that's OK. With Mike anyway. And me too.
