Quiet SBH Sunday morning in August

After Mass at Lorient (9 AM, for the season), I normally head to Pearl Beach for brunch. Not today, as it was closed for Eden Rock’s “Closing Staff Party.”

Always dependable — & dependably good — Le Repaire filled the gap.

Foreshadowing the “new season,” coming in November . . .

It seemed that nary a mouse stirred in Gustavia!

. . . hardly more in Corossol, preparing for its annual fete on Tuesday

Returning to villa CEC . . . a brief stop on the way to meet buddies Ellen, Rosemond, & Rachel for Ti Corail “light lunch” — pacing myself!

And a lovely lunch it was... everything else along Grand Cul de Sac is already closed for the season so Ti Corail was full even at our 2pm seating.. they close on the 29th of August until October so the beach will be very quiet for a while.. just us and the turtles...

“Quiet!“. A big part of the reason that I enjoy this time of year! Thank you, Ellen & Rosemond, for welcoming me “home!” It was a gentle, soothing afternoon!

Merci, Amy! A brutal (perhaps a little exaggerated!) travel day on Friday. I’m no longer the spry young man who used to eagerly jump out of bed at 4:30 AM to move from JAX to MIA to SJU to SBH, with wait times at each change of planes. A 14 hr itinerary! (Where’s my jet when I need it?)

The overnight at SJU, as a result — with a comfortable hotel & gracious dining experience (I particularly like “Sottovento Restaurant” in Isla Verde) . . . and a leisurely morning SBH arrival — are looking pretty good for future travel.

The weekend, meanwhile, has afforded me great meals, times with great friends, and lots of sleep, including afternoon naps. So, serenity has become my middle name! You & Phil know the “groove!”

So true! My favorite restaurant venues understand the schlep that I’ve gone through to be with them & nurture me in transitioning to island calm . . . which I appreciate & adapt to quickly!

For sure, September and October are two beautiful months that we appreciated when we were living on the island, with also our children coming back to school, but with just from time to time a hurricane to deal with, like with IRMA 9 years ago

My “usual!” . . . Kettle One gimlet with a splash of Cointreau, light on the lime juice! At the club to which I belong in Jacksonville, it has become familiarly known as “A Carlton!” Here’s the Peal Beach version (lunch today, celebrating Le Fete de St. Barththélemy).
