Post tip solicitations here!

My kids and staff tell me it’s the word to use.

Server has a subservient connotation.
Waitress, waiter , server all worked but this millennial goes with the flow lol!
As long as I have great service I’m good 😀

Anyway, sounds Jetson's esque.

I was at La Guerite Beach yesterday and I never did get asked for a tip....they just included a 15% gratuity when they brought me the bill. This is the third time in the past seven days that it has happened this way, the other two places were Nao Beach and L'Isola's speak easy bar.

I am with you Ellen. I think a mistaken Euro to Dollar conversation is what is suspect. I do not see added 15% gratuity.

when did France starting using the USD ?
Obviously they don't but since a huge % of the folx in restaurants here are American they offer you the option to pay in US $$ ... not sure it's totally kosher but many places convert to dollars at their rate (less interesting than the bank for sure...)

Yes, I have noticed more and more receipts converted to dollars and restaurants use a higher than day rate. I also remember a thread from last year regarding credit cards being run in dollars. Buyer beware--it happened to me at Guanahani last June. They ran my card in dollars at a higher exchange rate and I didn't notice until later when it was pointed out here on the forum.

yes, usually a scam if they do you the "favor" of the currency conversion.
It's not a "scam," they are not a bank and are doing you a favor if you want to pay in dollars.. and they openly tell you the rate, so it's your choice... if you have a pocket full of greenbacks it might work out for you...

Embarrassing...I think you are right. I was definitely charged $302EUR.
Don’t be embarrassed, Rolltide; you’re clearly not alone. We are all realizing what’s going on here. Now that we understand what’s going on and uber aware of this BS, we can take back control. Very sad. Between the tipping issues and the traffic on island, definitely makes things frustrating which takes away from the pleasures we’ve all had over the years visiting this paradise. Thirty years for us.
There are still beautiful experiences to be had, but definitely puts a tinge on things. Just saying…
