Petit Cul-de-Sac Natural Pool

Hello. Heading back after 2 years for our 6th trip to paradise. Have made it to the Grand Fond pool but never to the Petit Cup-de-Sac pool. Has anyone been there recently? Post from last year said something about it being closed. Will flip flops work for the trek or better off with tennis shoes?

Please don’t try to go there. Access to the pools in Petite Cul de Sac has been forbidden by the Collectivité since last year’s drowning death of a young girl, whose body was located, but was unable to be recovered due to the dangerous conditions. There’s an article in this week’s Le Journal de St Barth regarding the tragedy, and of the Collectivité’s attempts to come up with a plan to deal with the issues there.

Most people aren’t aware of how dangerous that area can be, In recent years there have been at least two rescues which were required when people accidentally ended up in the ocean. Those rescues required the combined efforts of firemen and the SNSM sea rescue boat.
