"Our" old villa featured in an article

Caribbean Journal frequently pops up in my phone's feed. To my surprise, the villa we rented on Flamands for almost a decade was the subject of the article. With so many amazing over the top villas, surprised they chose this one. I know P&A had stayed there and I imagine a few others may of as well. Good times!

Wish we were still there, but the owners switched to two-bedroom only, so last year we moved further down toward to the CB. Excited to be back for a second time a week from Friday. Cue the tingles!

Price on your old Villa has jumped significantly!
I was curious and looked at our past rental agreements. Was $375 a night (1-bedroom) in 2015, Drifted up post irma, peaking at $575 in 2024 after which they switched to 2-bedroom only. The article is quoting $1,265 a night. Money works for 2 couples, but the accommodations would be a bit tight.

This is the villa we stayed at for our honeymoon in November of 2011 (at the recommendation of some on this forum). If I remember correctly we rented it for $2,600/week. This price has jumped dramatically..... but I always thought it was a bit under market value for what/where it was.

Also, I found that polished stone floor extremely slippery when coming in with wet feet. I was disappointed to see the damage tot he villa from Irma.... and the destruction of the privacy vegetation in front of the villa.... but I suppose it's all back now.

The vegetation is somewhat back, but from the images, you can see the low wall they built in front of the deck. Probably good against any non-irma-like waves, but really blocks the views. Floating in the pool felt like being in a box, plus nearby ack-ack's were amplified as the sound bounced around. Speaking of Irma, I was told that the waves went over the roof and blew out all the windows. We were still picking glass chards in the nearby sand years later. Happy with our relocation, but still have a soft spot for the VDD.

I went looking for our old photos from our stay in 2011 but I couldn't find them (wife has them somewhere). I don't think I would like the villa as much without the privacy vegetation. I thought it was great to have a tiny path onto Flamands from the pool deck making the villa quite private even though it was only 2-3 steps (literally) from the beach.

The first night we were there (first night ever on SBH). Someone came up onto the deck thinking it was La Langouste. Luckily I had studied the island and been on this forum enough to point he person in the right direction. It kind of freaked the wife out a bit.

Depends what she was wearing;).

From the beach the deck is actually more private and the access is still the same. The big difference is that the view from the pool/chairs is a box. Here's a shot from a couple of years ago, complete with Rosé!
