One meal in St Barts

Ti Corail.

Not a bad recommendation

Ti Corail..Toes in the sand, sublime St. Barts setting and beach, amazing food and local flair, and the ride over you can see the island.

If you are looking for a "unique" experience, I suggest a French lunch on St. Jean beach. The view of the red-roofed Eden Rock built on a rocky promontory and the fun flow of planes landing over the beach is certainly unique (and wonderful)..

Isn't a "to each their own" question?

Lots of folks love Select. I don't. There's nothing wrong with it, but unless you buy into the mythology, it's nothing special A place like that exists in every beach town everywhere. Telling a first timer to go there to get the feel of the island will give them a strange impression I think.

To me St Barts is more about a great meal with a great view than it is a Carib and gas fumes with a view of a traffic jam.
with all respect I disagree. While I love a great meal and a great view there is something that draws me to Select. The first time I visited was 1987. While Cheryl was shopping I felt like I had been transported to a different time. Back then sitting at the corner table reading a Clive Cussler novel. Now reading my kindle. Sitting next to me, strangers. Now Phil & Amy might be sitting at bar d’ Oubli across the street eating chicken wings. Back then crazy traffic and now crazy traffic. The Mokes have been replaced by mini coopers. Amazing that fumes do not change. No matter what people think about Le Select, for me I was able to enter a Jimmy Buffet song and that universe. I still get the same feelings when I sit at the corner table while Cheryl is shopping. The food is not like it used to be; I drink white wine instead of Caribe. The vibe, the conversations and happiness from surrounding tables make me feel young again. There could be more places like Le Select in the world. I am happy with this one. I have happily bought into the mythology even though a couple of years ago Eddy gave me pause that Cheeseburgers in Paradise was actually written about Le Select. We visit one time on our annual two week vacation. See you on the beach.

Thanks everyone for all your helpful advice!
Ti Corail is unfortunately closed on Monday, and we nixed L'Atelier because there's a Joel Robuchon restaurant near us in Las Vegas.
After checking out the other options, we decided on Fish Corner, though a restaurant on St Jean beach is really tempting.

We appreciate all your input.

Jeff - my Mom went to the Rooftop last week when her cruise spent the day at SBH. She loved it!!! No regrets in her choice of restaurants.

she had the gazpacho and eggplant parm. “The service was impeccable “. She is a snob about service.

Enjoy your day. You can’t go wrong with any of the options offered.

Charlotte
